Default Kyosho 09 nitro buggy

OK I tried a search but could not find much on the Kyosho 09 nitro buggy. Does any one here have one and if so what is your opinion of it?

I race 1/8 buggies and just want a 09 to play with as I found a place that has the RTR kit with starter box and everything for $200 new. Are there any weak points that needs up graded out of the box?

I agree with you on that. But I bought mine the week they hit the LHS at 399.99..............

The rear hubs are a weak spot. I broke 4 of them before I upgraded to aluminum ones.

For some reason, I'm on my third set of center dogbones and my third rear diff rebuild. Upgraded to CVDs at front and rear, and the front diff has been fine. Other than that, the only thing I've worn out/broken is the brake rotor. It's weird--nothing at all broke during the first 3/4 gallon, then the driveline all started letting go at once?

That is interesting because my drive train is still fine after 1 1/2 gallons. Altought I did have one bad wreck that took out both wheels on the on the left side along with shattering the pipe and breaking the intake nipple off of the carb.

Yeah, the dogbones chew up the inside of the center diff cups on mine, and ever since the rear end blew out once, It hasn't lasted. I probably shouldn't be running it on asphalt so much. I'm pretty sure the first rear diff blowout was due to a rock jamming in the right rear hub, but I don't know why it let got the second time.

I mainly run mine on my track. It has only seen pavement a couple of times since I broke it in.

I personally will not run anything GPM again and there is much better out there. Hope your shocks do not leak like the ones I had. Maybe things have gotten better but had too many bad experiences with their parts years ago. All so their parts are cast and not machined from billet, which is much better. Still trying to make a decision on weather I am going to get a 09 or just more things I need for this season of racing. Would like to hear from some one that has a 09 with 5 plus gallons on it to see just how well it holds up.

Yes they do and I have some other coupons that I can apply to get more off. If I get it there is not a classes for it like there is with my 1/8 buggies and it will only be a toy. Been wanting one ever since they came out. I have the Kyosho half 8 electric but prefer nitro.

I was wondering the same thing about the GPM shocks. My KMI 09 is 9 months old, and I have yet to rebuild the shocks. They still hold oil fine and work very well.

That answers a question I had. My Half 8 did not come with oil filled shocks so from what you said I am guessing the 09 does. Does any one know what parts are interchangeable between the 09 and half 8?

One of the problems with GPM is there parts are made from cast and not billet like many others so they are not near as strong as well as the have a quality control problem.

The only parts that iI know of that are different on the 09 and KMI are the front knuckles and hubs.

What I am talking about is the Half 8, which is 1/16 electric buggy and what parts are interchangeable between it and the 09. I know the chassis, center diff are different as well as the 09 comes with metal diff gears where the half 8 comes with plastic. Was wonder about things like the A arms and so on.

Trying to get ready for a money race tomorrow.

Arms, shock towers, shocks, rear hubs, turnbuckles are the same on both the KMI and 09. What I was trying to say is that if you use the KMI front knuckles on the 09 then you will also need the front C-hubs from the KMI.

How is the stock servo or is it like most other RTR does it need to be replaced with a higher torque servo? Does it have 3 wires on the lead or 4 like on my Half 8? I will be getting a Spektrum mini receiver shortly so I will be able to use my React TX with it.

Steering servo is standard 3-lead, and it's actually pretty good! I just shoehorned a Futaba 603FF receiver in m KMI 09(Kyosho Mini Inferno) tonight, not sure what the dimensions are on the Spektrum product......also, just FYI, the 09 version comes with a center spool, not a diff.

What are some good online places to buy parts for the 09? Does it have a slipper clutch since it does not have a center diff?

Just what I need another RC car. I do not even have my new Hyper 8.5 pro ready so tomorrow I will have to run my old Hyper 8 pro.

No slipper clutch either. So far I've been buying all my parts at Nitrohouse. They have the best prices on parts for this car I've seen yet. If they don't have it, I've also ordered from Toyhaus.
