RE: Transporting your mini
the first bag is perfect, before I was able to fit my vendetta buggy, extra set of wheels/tires, couple spare batteries, radio, jump, all the tools and and extra set of batteries for the transmitter. I currently use a bin that is typically used for files since my collection has grown, now I have my mini baja, micro baja and two mini-z's along with 2 transmitters and ll the batts I need.

I personally would be interested in the Team Magic Backpack for 1/18th.

RE: Transporting your mini
I found a tool box at the hardware store that my 18T and my son's mini t fit in the bottom perfectly (or I can fit my 18t, transmitter and charger if I'm going solo)...only cost about $9. I have a wingtote for my Revo and they are great...may have to invest in a couple for the little guys!

If you want soft sided but a pretty durable case, look into Sewing Machine totes - some are cheaper some are darn expensive. Pretty interesting choices and you can look "all spiffy" with various fabrics they use to make them.
I think the plastic tub(s) with cover should work for the most part. But I have to drag 4-5 cars to a race and we use my wife's sewing machine case and it's not a bad solution. Rubbermaid may want your business more and they are plastic tubs are pretty cheap.
