How do you fit a 7 cell battery in an RC18T?
What did you guys do to make the IB 1400 7 cell packs fit in the RC18T? [link=http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=IB-1400-7Cell-RC18T&cat=12]Click Here[/link] The battery is slightly long and it is tight between the battery holder mounts. The battery fits in, but then you can't get the battery holder on. I was going to dremel these slightly to give me more room, but I wondered what all of you have done before I screw it up.
Thanks,

You may be able to do something with battery mounting tape rather than a holder. But you may want to have multiple batteries around to switch out to run longer.
I ordered some batteries from cheapbatterypacks.com and they can build them up in special configurations such that you could do 6-wide with a 7th in the middle on a 2nd layer. You'd have to do a special battery pack holder for that - but it's doable.

maybelater29,

So you're telling me that the battery I bought that is supposed to fit, really doesn't fit. That really pisses me off.

The toyz is always out of stock in them. Go to Cheap Battery Packs and order from them. You can have the pack custom configured any way you want and they use the Elite 1500 cells. I ordered 2 saddle configurations for the Tek18 and 2 stick packs for my M18MT.

Kent, it will fit. It just fits really tight You might have to exen the holes on your battery strap because it will push your post out \___/ not l___l. if you are using a DP spur cover you have to dremel it a little. With the Hump pack you have to bremel your battery strap a little to fit the 7th cell.

I bet the battery you bought doesn't look exactly like the one in your link. It most likley looks more like the one in the guys pic above with the black plastic end on it. If you simply remove the black plastic peice on the end it will fit fine, just use some tape to make sure it holds together fine.
Modify the battery, not the truck. If you don't have the black plastic peice and it still doesn't fit then I don't know what to say because I had the same battery and after I removed the plastic and it fine without mods to the truck.

Ya, It can be a bit unnerving cuuting apart a new $40 battery, but really the plastic thing is totally unnessasary as proven by the link above where it doesn't contain it. The batteries are glued together well and the plastic does nothing more than make it look like that battery is better than the other companies beside it on the shelf. I recomened some decent scisors or snips. I wouldn't venture the job with a razor knife unless you are Chuck Norris.

You are right that isn't the exact battery, [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMGW8&P=ML]this is.[/link] It does have the black cap at the front, but the battery doesn't look like it's glued. It doesn't seem like removing that black piece will make enough room.
