Best ones are the DTX cvd's. The ones that use screws and not nuts to hold the wheels on can be modded for M3 nuts (is a good thing)

People have broke the cvds with nuts. It is safer to just use the regular cvds.

If the wheel has a 12mm hex it should fit the detta. This would be a good thing to go to your lhs and pick out some wheels talking to the owner or an employee.

The ones that come with the threaded axles use a tiny nut to hold the wheel on. I can't recall offhand but I think it's an M2 threading. It is possible to break those threaded ends off because they are so small. If you use the standard ones you can drill out the pretapped hole (still M2) and tap it to fit M3 threads. Then you use a short piece of M3 threaded bar and locktite it in the hole with some extra sticking out of the axle. Tada; you have threaded axles that accept M3 nuts instead of M2.

I rock these

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-x-25C-7-4V-180...item5635f55d10

Gadex (aka Action LiPo) is made by BYD, 2nd largest battery manufacturer in the world, and they work great!

My son actually broke one today, so I might as well upgrade.

These steel ones you talking about?

The stock threads in the axels are 2.6mm.You can use bolts and cut the heads off but the long bolts are hard to find in that size. That's why the 3mm mod is preferred.Drill em out and tap to 3mm.LONG 3mm bolts are easy to find. Dave in Seattle.

The GPM's are fine. Cheaper than the Duratrax ones.I have a bad taste in my wallet/mouth about the Atomic parts.I used a 2.6mm bolt and cut the head off to use the GPM's.The Duratrax ones come that way, already. Get some extra 6X10mm bearings, too. HPI has 2.6mm "ny locks"#Z-661.I use Hot Racing RAET10MS washers for the wheels. They are countersunk to fit the wheels.Hex Heads have 2.6mm bolts.LONG ONES!25mm is the longest they had. Any suggestions on where to pick up a nice tap & die set? I have been kicking around the idea of picking up a nice set for a while and taping out the axles might be the excuse I am looking for.

I picked up two sets (S.A.E. and metric) at a local ACE hardware store. Probably can find them cheaper on-line, but I needed mine right away.

Whatever cvds you get make sure they are for the right vehicle. If they don't say ST, ther're for the buggy. If they say ST, they are for the ST. I would recommend the duratrax ones because they are indestructable, but you could go with the cheaper ones. Never tried em myself so I can't say anything about them.

got venom 2s lipo and cheapo dynamite 12v charger. ran it twice about 25mins of fast run time was lovin it till the hood of my truck randomly slammed shut on the charger and destroyed it lol. oh well at least my battery is OK, gonna get the dtx onyx 230 when i get back frm work and possibly a couple of those cheap packs from hobby city. my question is are those ~60 dollar packs from max amps worth the money? im looking at the 11.1v 3s for the detta. will they be any better than turnigy packs? i can get 4 of those hobbycity packs and deans plugs for the price of one maxamps.

I like to refer to MaxAmp batteries as TrashAmp batteries. They over charge people just like all the other domestic battery distributors. I love my turnigy batteries.
