whats true about the detta aluminum??

Default whats true about the detta aluminum??

so i have a broken rear knuckle and i heard that i should just get the regular plastic part in stead of the aluminum...

is that true?? should i get the stock rear knuckle or the aluminum knuckle

well it's heavier but it's just on piece. It doesn't really matter. It's completly up to you.

I can't see the ear knuckles being a reoccuring problem, I have yet to break one. I'd stick with platic.

The alloy parts add nothing but weight. The plastic stuff is light and flexes so your car will be more reliable and lighter. Stick with the plastic stuff or get the upgraded graphite stuff if you want but the alloy stuff is not worth it.

There are a few pieces that I like having aluminum on my detta. All the things holding the hinge pins in the front on my detta are aluminum, and the upper suspension arms are aluminum as well (Detta ST). For me the front area flexed too much and I kept bending pins so I replaced all the needed parts with aluminum.

remember, if the car is under 1 year old, you can get a free one from DTX, its worth a shot, also try soaking the part in hot water for a minute or so, it slightly softens the plastic making it take impacts better[8D]

That depends on where you personally draw the line. If metal weren't necessary, we would be using plastic pinion gears, drive shafts, motor plates, etc... Heat sinks wouldn't exist. I draw the line at aluminum fuel tanks, rims, a-arms, bumpers, etc... It might also depend on the vehicle. For example, I may want heavy aluminum rims on a crawler (It's an upgrade "and" bling. lol)

I would stick with plastic till it broke a couple of times. If you notice that you are breaking this piece a lot, then replace it with an aluminum one.

I hear people say that aluminum will just bend instead of break, so it isn't worth it. I also think that depends on the part. If you buy an aluminum bumper, you are begging for a bent piece of aluminum, but I don't think there would be a problem with a rear hub. They look pretty strong to me.

Yeah your right. There is a point where aluminum is important. It all depends on the part but I would stick with the plastic knuckle

Unless the problem you are having involves the screws holding the knuckle to the carrier are stripping out . That was the case with my MT2 (front only) and why I have aluminum knuckles. It is also the ONLY alloy I run on it. If you just broke the knuckle itself I don't see a need for an alloy replacement. Just my 2 cents.

well one of the things that makes the detta o great is the extra wieght,,,, it isnt a tank . but those small allowpawont make that much of a difference,,,

also the rear knuckle was probably a fluke....in over 2 years I only broke 2 of them,,, one on each car
