Default Anybody got the Losi Mini rock crawler?

it looks SWEET!!!!!

i kinda want one, but would like to see some others opinions of the lil set up.

is it like, worth $250?

does it need some major upgrades right out of the box? if so, what?

is ther a better parts selection than they toyz? (only listing less than 70 parts)

and any other experience would be great!

I played with one up at the LHS... it was cool and all but for the price, I figured I could build a clodbuster crawler/racer. So that's what I am working on now.

I had mine for couple weeks. to be honest. it isn't that FUN!

It's hard to find a place for it... I finally found a place under one of the little bridges in the park but it was too big for this little crawler. It got stuck all the time..

For a rock crawler, i would say it's way too small. Losi has a bigger version now.

You can make your own course for indoor fun. The one that sounds the best to me is taking a large plank of plywood and using a can of great stuff to form mini mountains and rocks. I don't have a mini crawler so I have never tried it.

$219 at Ultimate hobbies. Had one for weeks. Whole familys got them and its a blast indoor or out. You have to like 4x4 trail riding or rock crawling to enjoy it. Its not for eveyone. They only need weight added, thats about it,.

im big in to frodin bra!!!!

there are some MAJOR 4X4 trails in the hills where i grew up.

and being 1/18 scale, id assume it has similar limitations shared by others in the same class.

i think im gonna get one.

im really looking for part support, then its a go!

clodbuster! take the plunge with me Bob! You need one big monster of an rc in your stable that puny losi can only climb blankets and beer cans. You need something that can climb women and cases of highlife.

i googled clod buster and it was like 3bills BEFORE the conversion.

and its not like a mini. i got a spare room. which could be a great mini corse.

im not into competing. and i understand tyhat is size means it cant hang with "the big dogs"

but $220 + deans conversions and its ready to go, sounds very appealing!

i like the blue one

Nah, you just buy the axles and then an aftermarket chassis.
http://picasaweb.google.com/Derigortron/ProjectClod#

work in progress. I've spend about 200 so far off evilBay for all this clod junk. I think I am going to powder coat it purple.

If you get the losi mini crawler, figure out a way to mount some more weight on the axles. maybe build saddle packs and put a half the cells on one axle and half on the other.

why add weight when you can redistribute the weight you already got

Some of the members over at rc bros are working on this truck, redistributing the weight, created new TVD's for the truck. It looks very promising. I may just have to sell my KMI for one.

because its a freggin rock crawler?

my homies jeep is on 35"s, and he has 3 cement parking blocks ricght down the middle of his "trunk"

center of gravity.

also, removing the tire foams, and putting some bb';s in the tires has workd for the "Bigger" RCs dudes are running 'round these pats

Yea, but I'm just saying on a mini with limited power, moving the weight already there from the top down to the axles might help more than just adding more weight to the whole thing. I know on the larger crawlers people mount their battery packs on the axles or in the wheels. Keeping weight up top and adding more to the bottom might help too, but its going to strain that little motor more.

I'm just speculating of course. I guess I just have lighter, faster, lower center of gravity on the brain from working on my racing clod.

home boy on the toyz instigated the motor cycle weights.

he says its only downfall is the lack of distributed weight.

and i really dont think this think has any lack of power.

its just small, therefore not as amazingly capable, but thats relative!!!

dude a six pack, a lil plumage, and whatever foam corse i could create on a 4x4 piece of plywood would be just make many rainy/snowy/hungover days for bob!

yea, I played with my cousins super class crawler in his garage. Super fun. Climbed some disc brakes, up a 2x4 onto the treads of his massive car sized atv (so red-neck lol). Damn thing hit his work bench and almost climbed up the side of it. Yea, then he handed me his spare 16 year old Clod axles (he traded his e-maxx for the clod based crawler). Cant wait to get this sucker going... but I'm going to hold monster jam in my house rofl! Im gunna crush the wife's mini-baja! Take that Losi!.

Yea I had fun with it at a LHS. Climbing cans of nitro lol. Duratrax makes a small crawler too I think. or you could get an axial rtr... They arnt much larger than the losi... atleast they dont seem like it when they are stock.

not like the duratrax mini crawler is any better.

Losi is average of 239.99

the duratrax has twin motors and is the same price.

AN RTR AXIAL SCORPION in only $10 more?

am i missing something?

I guess for the money... I'd snag the axial even though it's 1/10... Its not a really big car though since it is a 2.2 class crawler... But atleast you know it has TONS of parts for it.

Also, with crawling you can run em indoors since going slow is the name of the game. size isnt a huge factor. I mean heck, we are able to run a clod based crawler indoors without breaking anything

Edit: duratrax 1/14 scale

that duratrax doesnt look too shabby either... dual motors/gearboxes like a clodbuster. plus you get the duratrax breakage warranty...

Also check out the Goliath... Mugen used to have one, he said they were pretty dang awesome.

I love mine. I added stick on wheel weights to the insides of the wheels, moved the electronics around, and lowered the battery, now it performs great. It is much smaller than the Axial, but if you take into account the size I think out of the box it outperformed my Axial when they were both stock!!!

Is that the batteries sitting on the rear axles in the second pic? For the money I'd just buy the axial, its not THAT much bigger. More parts available /shrug It's not mini though and that's the only complaint I'd have. I just think the losi crawler is too expensive, maybe if it comes down in price... just hard for me to justify the price tag when you can get (what I would call) superior product for just about the same money.
