Excuse my ignorance, but where does the fan hook up to? Does it have to be spliced into something? Is the fan on at all times or does it kick in at a certain temperature?

So adding the heatsink/fan would allow us to use the original gearing that should be used with one battery, but with TWO batteries? Would it cool efficiently? The manual states to not exceed 200 degrees, so I would assume that 175 is still ok, right?

175 is still ok and shouldnt do much damage. Now 200 is the limit but if you get close to that on a normal bases you will weaking the magnets. 175 is a little too hot for me(over a period of time that much heat will take its toll on the mags) and what happens when /if I really push it and forget to check temps, I then have a dead motor(a demaged motor will smoke a esc(just dont ask how I know)

I like the wheelie bar, but I think you need to lower it... being that high i bet the truck still just flips right over... doesnt need to be longer, just closer to the ground...
Agreed, bent the end to 10degrees lower. However, I'm going to need a serious strut system to keep this bad boy from bending back. This soft aluminum will be junk after 2 bash sessions. TRAXXAS HELP! Please shrink the E-Revo stock wheelie bar to fit this! [sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=drowning.gif]

Wow, I wish I could get all that technology for $5. Actually , you get a 2in + & - lead to a jst connector. The connector can be powered by an on-board battery BUT most commonly is plugged into CH3 of your receiver. Most extra channels on receivers are powered, I use them for lights and fans. There is no temperature sensor on this fan like the Mamba Monster ESC. Thus, the fan is always on.

Just purchased Two 380 Heatsink & Fan from RcMart.comAnyone dealt with RcMart before? Any good?
BTW: 10 left in all colors
Ordered from them before. Good prices but shipping from overseas eats up the margin sometimes.

Well, I think the green LED burned out in my truck. Luckily, It doesn't affect anything, because my LVC still works. It came on at about 10.3 volts.

Someone mentioned shocks cause well the caps pop off. Typical plastic caps, typical traxxas. New Era Models makes what you need. Metal caps.

How are you guys running so hot? Are you running stock batteries and how do you know how hot? Is there a sensor on stock setup?

Just wanted to post some pics of how my progress has gone, so far ive already changed the Wheels, jumped the gearing MUCH TALLER than stock, cut some holes for air to get into the motor/esc, slammed the car on the ground, and im running 4S lipo ill get soem video soon but all i can tell you know is this bad boy FLIES!!!

PS i added a small fan to the ESC, i personally have never over heated the ESC but since ive read many people having problems i figured extra cooling is always a plus!

1. What size ESC fan did you use?. Link please
2. How did you mount the fan?

Would any of you go with TWO fans if you could?
My Futaba R603FF receiver has a B/C plug slot. Does anyone know if I can safely use this slot for an additional fan?
If I could...CH3 & B/C would have a fan!

Excuse my ignorance yet again, but how did you hook up your fan? I'm an electric n00b, so I can not visualize it. The stock receiver is only a 2-channel, right? If one were to have a 3-channel, then can they plug the fan into the 3rd channel and control if it's on or off via remote?

By running the gearing that comes installed on the truck with TWO batteries. Traxxas does not recommend running the installed gearing with two batteries because it can over heat easier. BUT, as long as you monitor the temperature and only run on smooth surfaces, then you will be good to go. The way we monitor the temperature is by a temperature gun.

The receiver is 4 channel, so it doesn't matter if the Tx is only 2, you don't need to control the fan.

the reciver is 4channel so i just pluged it into the 3rd channel, as far as mounting goes i jsut got a long hex screw and screwed it in threading the screw into the heat sink fins. Works great and looks clean.

My fans BLOW hot air away from or off the ESC.
You should feel warm air blowing on your hands or face.

Ok guys a quick question for ya it says in the owners manual that a higher gear ratio will give you more (torque) acceleration but less top speed, the how come when you install the the 23 tooth high speed pinion (changing the gearing from 9.00 to 10.96) you can reach a higher speed ? It seems to defy my understanding of gear ratios...

the fan should blow air onto the esc, not pull air through the heatsink and up....

Take the fan of and hold your hand a few inches away on each side... whichever side you feel the most airflow, is the side you should have ponting towards the heatsink....

spektrum rx's are very sensitive to voltage drops.. I had to stop using them completely with my mamba esc's.. but I guess you can get a capacitor to help stop that from happening.
