well its been a full month now since i got my mini slash. and i have broken 3 front body/bumper mounts and one rear bumper. not bad since i drive like i am trying to break. oh an the body is starting to show its weak points and is cracking in 4 different places. otherwise i have gone through 5 body pins from having them get all mangled up. pretty much this thing is a beast.

well i have been just bashing my mini to pieces lately, i broke another front bumper/body mount, i broke the rear bumper in two different places, the shell has cracks coming in on 7 different places, i tore a wire off one of the batteries where it is soldered to the plug, and somehow shook the esc out of where it is held down. all in two days, mainly because i found out that i can get major air jumping off a special snow bank i found and started doing front and back flips. i must say having a metal front body/bumper mount would be nice. thats the biggest weak spot i have found. but im hoping most of these problems are accuring because of the cold weather. but i just bored out of my mind i got two weeks before i start my job and theres nothing to do.

So I ripped my differental today and I'm just wondering what kind of differntel oil you guys are running? and do I run it thru hot water to clean it off the grime and dirt?

Also dose anyone race their mini slashes? I race mine at my lhs on a carpet track.

thats because there really isnt much for hop ups to begin with for the mini slash. the same goes for the mini revo except you got more choices for tires since the wheels stick out. but really it doesnt need any hop ups i think. its mainly just a basher an the parts on it or pretty sturdy except for the front body mount. thats the only thing i see as a problem.

Your out of your mind Lurp, there are ALOT of hop ups for both mini slash and revo. You can hop up just about every part of these little guys at thetoyz.com.

i guess you got a point there i never been to that site before. but what i want in hop ups is better body mounts (which thetoyz.com had in alum) but sometimes alum just isnt what everybody wants. just my opinion. i probably will get that front alum front body mount since you pointed the site out to me but i dont think the mini slash needs any more weight.

But thanks for sharing .

There also sell delrin, graphite, steel, etc. I personally think that they are one of the best mini websites there is. Great prices and support.

How have you set up your Mini Slash for racing on carpet?

It must be a challenge to keep it stable on your track...does it have jumps?

Nice video!

Took the suggestion to go through the toyz. Got the blue steering arm. How long does shipping take usually? There right above my state so I am hoping that its quick. If they come through next pay check the slash is getting some (a lot) blue bling.

Got the part and installed it. It looks nice! I really want the brushless motor but now I have to buy new batteries because I blew the stock one up by accident. Then hopefully get it.

My servo was junk out of the box. It wouldn't center correctly most of the time. I wound up replacing it with an old Hitec HS-81 I had laying around in my parts bin, and it's been in there for several months now with no more problems. It was a drop-in fit, using a Hitec horn that came with the servo.

Thanks for the info. Are there any other mods necessary for that type of carpet racing? How do the tierods, differentials, and steering knuckles hold up?

Does anyone know what size shaft is on the stock vxl motor? I am looking for a 9T pinion gear that will fit on it. Thanks - Blake

okay guys. i have some exciting info to share.

i found these nifty "wheel wideners" on ebay. these extensions make the standing width 11mm wider on each wheel. these should really help with some of the unwanted roll-overs we get on our slashes. plus, when you combined these wideners with after market offset wheels, such as my modified hpi ss wheels shown here with erevo tires, it makes the stance that much wider. total combined, it makes the 1/16 slash about as wide as the 1/16 erevo stance. mine came in at around 9" wide, and i believe the erevo is 9.4" wide.

if you're interested, look up "RNR slash 1/16 wheel" on ebay, and you will find them.

and here's another idea i have. i kept losing body clips, whenever i had a bad tumble or cartwheel. as a poor-man's solution, i drilled a couple of small holes near the body peg holes (i'm sure there are more accurate names for these things...) and ran a rubber band through to them, connecting to the body clips. this is a cheap way to keep the clips together on the body when you take a spill. i've had some nasty end-over-end spills recently, and the body clips never got lost.

your mileage may vary, but it works well for me.

my next project is an onboard video camera. stay tuned...

Hey I like your body clip idea. I'm going to try it on my mini revo.
If you're going to add spacers and wider tires to achieve the same stance as a revo anyway, why not just convert to revo suspension? I suppose your route may be cheaper, but is there any other reason?
