RE: OFFICIAL 1/16 VXL Slash thread.
I'm still mad they couldn't get a Monster Energy body licensed for these things. The manager at my LHS is supposed to try to get an Amsoil one in for me. He was calling the distributors while I was there asking what they had, Great Planes said they had one in the computer, and it was the ONLY Slash they had left. So hopefully it was still on the shelf (sometimes things tend to grow legs and walk off (under someones arm [:'(] )). I'll know in a week. [&:]

Today we tried one 3s 1320 MAH 20C lipo with the included high speed gear. Heres what I noticed: No overheating! An intense but manageable boost of speed without any noticeable drop in take off torque. It ran for what seemed like about 40 minutes. I dont have a temp gun and we werent timing the session with a clock but there is no denying the ability of the electronic components to handle lipo3S.

Took mine out today, used two packs in series....way too much power for the slash setup..well on pavement anyways...Fun as hell tho.
hard to get it up to 50mph without cartwheeling...After i wear out these tires i will have to find a different set up so i can do some speed passes with out flipping end over end...

yikes... so it's pretty unstable at high speeds... well, that's kind of what I was worried about a little.. maybe it needs a front spoiler or something? I am contemplating which lipo to get for my car...

You cant even get it up to full speed without it cartwheeling....It was made for running on dirt and it does that well...just not verygood on pavement, but we kinda should have known that...I think it can be tweaked abit for road running..like lessen the pre load to lower the C of G and go to black springs and maybe add some more camber..etc.Road tires might help.

Well, that does make sense... maybe I should just get a 2s lipo for now for it and maybe add another later if I want to try ludicrous speed..
edit: ok, went with a 2200mah 2s for now.. getting the y cable via fleabay and will eventually get another same battery but for now I think this will be enough.
one more: looks like the VXL esc doesn't have cutoff for dual 2s packs.. ugh. maybe I should have just stuck with nimh on this one. *sigh*

There are tons of discussions on batteries that will fit. How about some comments on durability, such as during jumping?

redfisher: do you read the traxxas forums? i've been posting about trying to stabilize my slash on-road. I have a bunch of videos on my youtube. http://youtube.com/peowraaku

On Father's Day, I took my mini slash to my parents house and ran it in their rocky backyard. I found a board and set it on top of a 5 gallon bucket. I was trying to make the jump as steep as possible, and the slash took it just fine. I did not break any parts until a week later I tried to run 4S and broke a rear toe link in a bad flip!

yes i do....thats where i got the idea to lessen the preload and and some more camber....I want to go to the double black springs as the double green are too soft when the preload is backed off...it has helped alot...i took it out on wet pavement today alot more fun no filpping.

RE: OFFICIAL 1/16 VXL Slash thread.
I payed $347 total in canadian funds(with $75 off code) that was for the truck the second battery and the series connector plus 24.99 to ship to ontario plus $37 for taxes and fees at the post office......Just took it out again with the tweaked settings...traction rolls less now, but when you get around 50mph it lifts off the ground like a plane and flips........pretty fun tho....have to have a light finger...

coolio.. well, I am going to run 2s for starters and then migrate to 3s.... once my series and parallel cables come in then I will pair up some batteries for more excitement.. looks like the softer suspension is really made for running in dirt.. the videos I have seen the car really looks like a real rally car while it's tearing up the dirt.. looks pretty cool, but I can see how it's going to be tricky on tarmac..

Subbing, sigh... they had me at "power"
Why don't you make your own parallel/serial adapters out of silicone insulated 14-16 gauge wire and a bunch of deans ultras? You can be sure I won't be driving that thing stock! (ok maybe a quick fire up just to make sure it works before I start cutting and splicing, deleting connectors etc...)
I'm thinking this thing's gonna need a really powerful custom lighting system to run off road at night, right? If you send me yours I'll fab one up for you, could take a couple of months though
