It's supposed to be flexible. I'm sure it will prove to be plenty tough just like the one on the 1/10 slash.

the bumper works great, but mine seems to be getting warped over time so that it points upward. new era models has a bumper reinforcement that they say prevents the bumper from popping out over the skid plate. http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi...&part_id=10172

I'm starting to get the hang of driving this little beast....very light trigger finger and very small movements with the steering...stay on loose dirt.....stay away from pavement......run one battery with smaller pinion....

I wouldnt run it on the road untill you go with double black springs 5owt shock oil and o camber rear -1 front, and very little preload......

ok, well, just for grins here are some pics of my slash next to my 18T

I put 40wt oil in my rear socks last night which seemed to make a little improvement in the rear sag.. I made a traxxas to deans adapter also so I can use all of my other lipos too. I noticed the radio box is too small to fit an RS300 though.. that's a bummer... I'll have to put the other RS300 on my 18T and move the RS310 in there as I am pretty sure after a while I will be sick of the TQ radio when I have my nice JR's sitting idle.

You should ditch the adapter and put a deans plug on the ESC, otherwise you can cause damage to your batteries and ESC.

it was a temp solution because I kind of wanted to experiment with keeping traxxas end on the esc.. unless something is shorting I don't see how it's going to damage the batt or esc.. I used all quality components and real lead solder.. the lead is a little long though.. I was thinking about making it shorter.

speaking of setup, has anyone used a setup board or camber gauge on these trucks? I've never used them before, and I'm curious if there are any out there that will fit these little trucks.

dragon, I didn't mean to just discount your warning though.. was it because of added links in the batt to esc line and extra resistance?

No problem. Yes I was talking about the added ressitance between the ESC and battery. I thought you were using an adapter between the ESC and one battery, because you didn't want to change the plug on the ESC. I didn't realize that you were running them in parrallel. I have a nice Deans parallel plug, it is made out of three deans plugs soldered togther. You can see it in the pic below, there is one on the left side and one on the right side of the chassis.

Actually, the second battery was to keep the weight even on the truck... but I am planning on running dual batts... I am going to make my own parallel harness also.. as for the adapter, I just wanted to run the truck around a little with my lipos before I chopped the esc leads...

That's not even close to true... Traxxas connectors, just like deans, provide the same or less resistance than an equal length of wire.... Even if included something of lesser quality like a tamiya connector, the worst its going to do is melt the connector, which would only damage the esc/battery if the wires became shorted due to the melting. There is 0% chance that a properly constructed TRX to deans adapter is going to damage anything.

So been driving the slash more today... adjusted the slipper.. mine was kind of loose. I took it to full tight then backed off 3/4... seems good now, more responsive. it's for sure more fun on a 2s lipo, but still a bit more sluggish than I am used to with my rc18s.... and you can hear all those metal gears turning away. it reminds me a little of driving my old MLST a little... faster and more responsive though... I haven't flipped it too many times yet... the tarmac in front of our place is was sealed last year, so it's fresh and clean and the car seems to slide on it pretty well rather than turn over.. going to take it out for some off roading later today or tomorrow.

edit: I put some street wheels on the slash for a run just for kicks.. WOW, talk about tippy... no thanks!

just received these today. they are hpi rally tires on hpi stock car rims. made for 1/10th touring cars. they are slightly larger in diameter than the slash tires, but they have the same width and same hex. they fit with no mods.

How do they effect the handling of the truck?

I got my stiffer springs on the slash and there's a bit of a trade... it's way more stable while in motion, especially at high speeds, until you do a tight turn around which is more tippy for sure than before. so I have to watch it on the tight turns.. it spent a bit of time on it's roof yesterday.. going to take it to a dirt patch tomorrow and run the crap out of it there.. should be fun.

We're dirty now

man... this thing is crazy fun in the dirt.. seeing it fly by and take a corner with rooster tails shooting off each wheel. it was beautiful. the spot I went today was kind of small and the dirt was powdery... man I was making some dust clouds. I need to find a BMX track or something..

I got my new 3s battery and ran the slash around on the pavement without it's shell on and it seems to do a lot better without the shell going fast... I bet a more aerodynamic nose will help it from not taking off like a plane at higher speeds..

edit: BTW, that hole on the other side of the motor set screw lets dirt into the pinion/spur area.. I got some in there today but have covered the hole up with some electrical tape..

Can anyone comment on the durability of the mini Slash? Also, how is the stability during jumping with only one pack on one side of the chassis?

So far so good with me... I have been beating on it kind of hard and nothing has broken. I haven't jumped it a lot, but it does seem to fly well... I think some heavier oil in the shocks will help make softer landings.
