XXXOFFICIAL OFNA CRT.5 THREADXXX
I looked. As usual through the pages and i posted in one crt.5 thread and it's dead so i thought an official thread would be useful. I just bought one and wanted a place to ask questions and post pics. So post your pics. and vids. or ask questions and tell us what you do with your "mini"[>:]

Post in the thread I made. I mean, if people were interested they'd post, but they aren't. I'm trying to convert my CRT .5 to electric.

Yeah it's weird why aren't people interested. It doesn't make since. It's $200 and great quality. I have a question though. What is the biggest engine you can put in it with the stock mount or an aftermarket one. By what i've heard it is adjustable and can hold up to a .18 stock. I was wondering if it would hold a .21?

RE: XXXOFFICIAL OFNA CRT.5 THREADXXX
trx 3.3 would be the biggest. OS .18 TZ would have to be the badest, but there is sure to be a way to fit big blocks in there. The drive train is more than tough enough to handle it.
I already converted mine about a year ago and its been sorta a work in progress sorting out the little bugs. Currently it's really the size of a 1/10 because of the latest RCM chassis. These are great candidates for brushless systems. I stuffed a 1509 Neu in mine and ran it on 4s A123. The thing flys. I'm stepping away from A123 because of their size and shape and looking to put a 4s lipo in it, that should really pep it up.
Most curretly the CRT.5 is benched because it needs new wheel bearings

I was thinking and i thought that since a 3.3 fit then a .23 rb concept conversion motor would fit...then i found out you have to buy their engine mount and i don't think it would fit. What all would i have to buy to convert to a .18 or 3.3 which is better?

As for putting a large block in there my friend has a Sirio 23 that was made with the "small block" mounts so it can fit where a small block would fit. I would love a 1/12th truggy, thinking the reason why no one wants one is they all want the big popular cars. Great for someone with not alot of space though

What pinion should I run with the stock spur? It's for a Mamba Max/5700kV motor on 3S.

I ordered my Turnigy 4s lipo's today , 20c 3000mah, for less than $30 a pack. Also ordered a bunch of bearings from AVID, all $1 each. I should have done this a long time ago; can't wait to get it back on its wheels. It should be ready for the 4th of July race day here where I am.
Does anyone know where I can find a 1/10 truggy wing? 1/12 is way to small and 1/8 makes it look like it runs around with a hat on.

Wow! Doing the math that's a lot of RPM. 5700 x 11.1 is more than 63000 rpm. I wouldn't gear very high at all given that the 5700 is going to be taxing the ESC and batteries very hard. I'm going to run 4s on my Neu 1.5Y (2400kv). Numbers crunch to about 35.5k rpm, but that's A LOT more motor than the 5700. I'd think you should start with 12t or 13t pinion, maybe smaller, mod 1 obviously. I'd suggest RC-Monster pinions, superb quality and strength.

I think a 4600 on 3s would have been a more reasonable idea. I don't think the CC 5700 will stand up to 63k rpm. Neu's are some of the best there are and their bearing are only rated for 60k. 2s lipo would be spinning faster than my motor on 4s. A bunch of people run the medusa 3300 motor on 3s, I've seen a few use the 4600 on 2s or 3s. Are you running 2.2 truck tires/rims or buggy tires/rims?
Also, RCM pinions are 5mm bore, I'm not exactly sure what CC motors are. Maybe find a 10t mod1 pinion for that CC motor. It's going to be hard finding a sweet spot for that motor in a mini truggy. I think Castle had their minds on light weight 2wd buggies and trucks when they started making this series of motors, even on-road cars. Pushing a mini-truggy around is a lot more work, especially when we're aiming for high speed numbers to keep pace with 1/8 scale stuff. You're having to drive 4 wheels instead of 2, you're having to worth 3 differentials instead of 1, and it's just a heavy platform with all the metal involved.

Yea. But I can't afford a high end motor like that. I'm using the stock wheels which I believe are the same as 2.2 buggy's.
EDIT: I might be able to stretch for a Medusa. But which one should I use? There are so many sizes.

MR-036-050-3300V2-5 I believe is the popular one. 36mm diameter 50-long, 3300kv, V2 afterburner with 5mm shaft. $105, if I didn't have a Neu this is where I would go.

100k isn't really what I would consider a "fluid", it's more of a diff locker. I'm running 5k-7k-3k, front-center-rear. Although if you have really powerful brushless you might settle on 10k in the center.

I run a Medusa 4800 on 2s and 3s. 2s is a fast racer and on 3s it's mental. I've found that with more power, I run lower center oil. Higher makes the rear end kick out too much. However, it's all in what you drive on and how you drive.

RE: XXXOFFICIAL OFNA CRT.5 THREADXXX
I did a little bit of wire re routing on my CRT.5 this weekend. I ran the ESC and BEC wires through the edge of the battery box to get around the spur gear. Still leaves enough room for the Lipos. I'll be waiting till about the middle of next week to get my wheel bearings and Lipos in. Is there a good place to mount the power switch from the MM? I couldn't find one.

Kinda a cross between the two. If I'm running this in a race it's usually to screw around in a sportsman (race anything you want) class. But the oils work well for bashing too. 7k is a little lose for my liking in the center and I may change it to 10k in a little while.

How did you convert yours? Out of scratch or is there a kit you can buy. I figured with how many people are doing it their must be a kit. Just out of curiosity.
