why would you get the trx system? aside from the fact that the tq series are comfortable and sturdy, there are way better systems out that go for much less or about the same.

Not really. The BIG advantage to the traxxas 2.4 system is that its 4 channel. There are no other 2.4ghz radios with 4 channels for anywhere near the price of the tq system.

unless he was planning to get the two channel unit, then yea, that would be silly, considering its only $20 cheaper...

No interference. No glitching. No runaways.

It is the most secure way of operating RC.

With the standard AM traxxas radio, there are 6 possible frequencies, these are not "traxxas" frequencies, these are AM 27Mhz frequencies, shared with everything from radioshack toys to rc boats and planes..... if you are driving, and someone nearby turns on a transmitter that is on the same frequency you are one, your car will probably take off and crash.

With 2.4, this is not a concern, the radio selects an open frequency, and then when the next one turns on, it picks an open frequency. no one can turn on a radio on "your" frequency......

I just bought my son a new slash 2wd with the TQ 2.4. I'm very happy it came in the kit so we don't have to worrie about getting on someone else's channel while we at the tract. However, I wouldn't buy it as an upgrade to a RTR kit that didn't come with a 2.4 system. Having to count those blinking LED lights is a pain in the butt. It gets the job done, but if you like tweeking your controler set up there better systems out there.

About every third time I turn the radio on, the steering is reversed. Good radio except for that...
