im looking to get a cheep brushless motor from hobbycity.com. i was wanting to see if i can use a heli brushless esc for it instead of getting a castle or something like it.

they have ecs for 15 bucks..

if i can use one what would be the best choice to get..

any help would be appreciated

1/18th scale you'll probably need a 20A ESC or better on 3s lipo.
Heli ESCs can be used with a programmable Tx but rarely have reverse or a variable break and a 0(neutral or a brake setting only)-100%(full power) throttle/stick,
where as a car ESC is 0%(100 brake or reveres)-50%(neutral)-100%(full throttle).

Briefly as I am late. You can use a heli ESC to get by (I did initially) but you will probably miss the extra features of a proper car/truck ESC.

You can use one but they Do Not have brakes so be prepared to have plenty of extra parts on hand to fix your RC.
