Default 1/16 revo issue

i just had an old work buddy send me his used e revo 1/16 instead of some money he owed me and the car is running PERFECTLY except for one big problem - the steering.

so, i try to turn and the servo makes a CLANK CLANK sound. I took the body off and did some inspecting and unscrewed/took off the servo saver/horn and then tried to turn the steering wheel on my dx2.0 and the servo was working fine. turned right to left no problem. put the saver on, and CLANK CLANK sound came on again.

does this mean that my servo saver is stripped? i can't really tell by eye as my vision is god awful

thank you as usual
Dan

Servo savers don't really go bad, unless they just simply break. Your servo may be stripped, as when you have it in the air it will turn fine, but once there is pressure on it, it will act up. Take the servo apart and inspect the gears.

Get a metal high torque servo if its stuffed. Never happen again.
Servo savers usually just get softer and softer. It could be the return pressure spring in the saver ,just catching on something but its unlikely.

Come on now, you just got the truck for free and a stock servo would cost about $20!

After removing the servo and operating it freely, but encountering the "CLANK CLANK" problem "under load" is an indication the servo gears are in need of replacement. Or, replace the servo.
