Default hyper mini vs jammin crt.5

Does anyone know what the differances are between these two truggies? (hyper mini and the jammin crt.5) They look like the same chassis to me. I am thinking of buying one but I would like to know the differance before I spend the money. Is it just the bodies?
Thanks

Same post on two forums?

Like I said in the other forum same, but different. For instance, same diff, different arms. One is PBS, one is not. Manuals for both are online at ofna.

I had the Hyper and was disappointed in its lack of toughness. That said, I am used to 1/8 MT's, so little things that don't upset a big MT, sent the little Hyper flying - and breaking. IMHO it's only a sensible car to have if you have a very well paved track or surface to run it on.. Even little ruts can send it crashing - and breaking..

That said, it was a fun and fast little car on the track. Handled awesome. Good fun - at the smooth tracks.. Not so much at rougher tracks..

For parking lot running I found it lame.. Like on-roaders..

Maayyybbbeee for very mild bashing with a ramp landing in soft grass it might do allright..

It's a good little truck - just not up to the rough stuff..

The CRT is kinda goofy, but it probably doesn't belong in the mini section. It's way better than those 16th and smaller scale vehicles

Just playin' all you mini lovers.

I personally haven't driven the ST. I do have a CRT .5 and love it. It is tough. I've taken plenty of hard tumbles at the track. To everyone's dismay, I usually drive away like nothing happened.

The ST is a very fun truck - IF you have a perfectly smooth surface to run it on, and don't crash a lot... Handles great, very fast, etc.. When I think I got mine for about €215, it was a good little car fo that price. As I said, I'm just used to 1/8 toughness and reliability, and the Mini Hyper just isn't up to it. Really depends on the surface you want to run on IMO..

well we've been racing them on our track and i've only broken 1 rear hub and 1 front hingepin holder. we beat the snot out of them and they hold up great considering we're running c/c 4600 sport systems with 5000 mah lipo's. no they are not 1/8 scales but they do take a beating.

Sometimes you have to read into someone's post to get a clearer picture where they're coming from, and in this case you will notice the words "and don't crash a lot" which translates into thatHE CRASHESALOT, and thus any failures related to the vehicle are a result of "user error."

Nice track!

well I can get a ST from tower fairly cheap and use an ezrun system for only about 80 bucks, and I have decent servo and a 2.4g radio.. so my cost would only be about 200bucks

hmmmm. what to do?

No, that's not the case.

I actually don't crash that much. But one little rut in the track at WOT one day sent my Mini Hyper flying - and breaking.

Your grasp of logic isn't quite complete, and your skill at reading between the lines poor. Saying "don't crash a lot" does not axiomatically mean "because I do and therefore it will break a lot". I crashed once, and it broke. So saying "don't crash a lot" doesn't tell you anything about me.

Carnage from said crash:

Small clip from a different track. Smaller, better groomed, so OK for the Mini Hyper. Still rough in spots:

Your own "grasp of logic" needs some serious work.

The odd thing in this wholescenario of yours is that: (1) you're the only one saying such things, (2) hundreds/thousands of people have had these trucks without the "one little rut" issue you experienced, (3) it's a well known fact in RC, if you go too fast you wreck and if you wreck you break, even rookies to the hobby understand that,(4) it's apparent you don't like the trucks, but don't use your lack of skills and wrecking as reason to find fault in the truck.

Come on man

I've been balanced throughout, which somehow you have failed to notice.

I said the truck is fun if you have a very smooth surface to run it on. For those used to 1/8's though, it's simply not very tough and cannot handle what for 1/8's are minor ruts in the surface.

To each his own. I gave my experience. Take it for what it's worth.

Kind of like some RC's...

Not really.. The rear pin-holder plate(D-plate?) was broken, and a pin bent, and a bushing lost.. Or something. Required ordering parts from the UK, as there weren't any in Germany. Took a while, and wasn't all that cheap.

that sucks...
I would like to get one of these, but I really like my brushless erevo alot and I'm not sure how much time I would spend running a 12th scale
I also dig my mini slash, but the 12th would possibly get more run time

I'd personally pick up one of the short course ST/CRT .5 based vehicles.

Yup, these vehicles aren't as easy to drive as 8th scale. You're gonna crash more because ruts toss the vehicle around more than 8th or 10th scale. You can go to larger tires to help, but thats the nature of a smaller scale vehicle. I personally think it helps me drive better. If I'm wheeling the .5 around the track well, I'll really tear it up with the 8th scale. Pick your lines carefully and drive precise and these little beast can tear it up on a track.

Hyper version is out already, Jammin is not. There are vids for the vehicles floating around too.

Default RE: hyper mini vs jammin crt.5

lets keep this about the mini's huh.
the hyper mini st is just as durable as 1/8 if you take into consideration size, weight and speed. i'm running a c/c 4600 with a 2s 5000 mah lipo and it's just as fast as an 1/8.
now when you wreck yes you'll break stuff but seeing it's smaller it should be expected.
yes ruts that an 1/8 go through with no issue will upset these much more.

I think I'll stay with 10th scale, but these are so darn cheap to build! [:-]
