XTM Rage and Mini Quake- nearly identical
Just got back from my LHS and I happed to see a new XTM Rage brushless RTR for $149. That is a frickin deal. So I started talking to the owner and he said he had one with a brushed motor. For whatever reason, I went to the car and brought in my MQ to show him what it was. He brought out his Rage and when we started looking, the ONLY visual differences were the chassis is notched on the MQ for a larger servo and the aluminum chassis bar going from shock tower to tower was replaced with a plastic piece on the Rage. The driveshafts appeared interchangeable, the Rage allowing for 8 billion 1/10th scale tire/wheel fitments. The bumers, lower control arms, steering, and just about everything was identical. The Rage has better adjustable upper control arms. I had gone to pick up the Duratrax adjustable tie rods until he let me see his. The XTM's were much nicer and half the price!! $7.49 for all 4. They have a much larger adjustment nut than Duratrax. We plan to pop out my axle and try one of the Rage's. This truck is getting better and better. And I'd be better off buying a new BL Rage than putting a bl/esc in mine!

I did a side by side comparison of the two a while back. There are a few parts that are compatible and a few that aren't. Here's the thread. See page 4.

Sweet, thanks! The tie rods definitely worked great. I was wondering about the axles, hoping they would work so I could switch wheels....... Dang it!
I wonder how the Rage performs as a brushless RTR.

Yea, I'm on the voodoo with you too. I don't have the $ right now even for me. I'm trying to sell some stuff that I don't need- ie old motorcycle gear, etc. That's about the only way I'll buy one. I'm thinking we'll get him the Megatech as I didn't win the Vendetta off fleabay. Then if he doesn' t stick with it, he's only out about $60. If he develops a more serious interest, when things get financially better, we'll step him up for Christmas. Thanks for all the help. Now I get to drill and put screws in the knuckes since I broke a brand new graphite knuckle ball. I gotta stay away from parking lots that are too small with curbs......

Just ordered my son the Megatech/Pro Pulse truck with charger and battery for $54.95 shipped. I think that was the smart thing to do for him. If he likes it and continues on, we can hop it up or get him something better at Christmas.

http://dealer.megatech.com/itDetail.asp?it=MTC7431K I hope this is the Propulse one that so many folks have kind of raved about. Either way, I don't think I went wrong for him. It looks just like it.

I was reading RC Car Action last night and they are doing a review of the Rage brushless online. Unfortunately, you have to be a member to watch it I believe.

Thanks, and I just found it in my instruction manual I forgot I still had. Problem is, I found one that was the right dimensions (3mm thick), but the inside diameter was off. Whoop, there it is! The part number is on that pdf! Thanks!
