Mini LST

I am looking to get a mini lst. But I want to make sure that other 1/18 scale motors will work with the stock esc. Will two of these http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJJG3&P=ML work with out the esc failing? Are there any other esc that can work with two motors? And what pinion/spur should I start with? And please suggest any motors that would work better. I do not want to go brushless. Thanks for any help.

RE: Mini LST

They would work, but those arent exactly the best choices for a mini lst. You really want two micro mods such as the URC Krystal or Beast Raptor, or Trinity Cobalt. Dual Krystals work fine with the stock ESC.

RE: Mini LST

OK, I looked for the motors you suggested but all I could find was this one http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXLPV1&P=RF . Will two of these work with the stock esc? Were could I find the URC Krystal motors, I couldn't find them. Which would you think is the best at speed and acceleration.

RE: Mini LST

17t is the lowest I know of that the ESC can handle.
The Krystal can be found at
www.unitedrc.com
The Raptor can be found in the one18th shop at
www.one18th.com

RE: Mini LST

I have a few more questions. Why would the mini max motors I suggested first not be that good of a choice? And dose Trinity Cobalt motors come in 17 turn, I only found 16 turn and that wouldn't work, right?

RE: Mini LST

The motors you posted wouldnt please you, you would be better off buying the Insanes then those. I went brushless, and its cost me less then a nice brushed system so Im happy.

OK, I think I am going with the Trinity Cobalt 16 turn motors or I am going brushless. What ESC should I get to use dual Cobalts? Thanks for the help.

-Inverted- 05-13-2006 02:48 PM

RE: Mini LST

To use dual cobalts you will have to get a no limit ESC such as one by Novak. That paired with the motors and your spending over $50 more then brushless.

RE: Mini LST

Well that settles that, when I get my mini lst I am going brushless. This is what I have in mind http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXHAH9&P=RF . What pinion/spur should I get? Will this fit right in, what else would I need? Is there a different system you would suggest?

RE: Mini LST

I would NEVER run a mamba in the MLST, go to www.b-p-p.com and find a motor you like besides mamba. You want 370 or 380 size.

Dokioto 05-13-2006 03:32 PM

RE: Mini LST

OK I'll look, what do you run?

RE: Mini LST

ESC: Quark 33a Pro-Car
Motor: Some 7200KV motor I bought off ebay for $1, ill probably replace it with the Wraith, but Im waiting to try it with a better battery.

carmatic1 05-13-2006 03:40 PM

RE: Mini LST

they say that the wraith is the best one out now, guy i have on msn says that he got his mlst to 70 kilometers per hour with one of those wraith 7k's

-Inverted- 05-13-2006 03:42 PM

RE: Mini LST

The wraiths are nice, but Im waiting on some information over a problem for the MLST.

RE: Mini LST

Wow there is alot of misinformation in this thread.

You can run 2 cobalts off the stock esc. Running 2 of the 14t motors will cause thermal shutdown so if you wanted to run the 14t's I'd suggest a better esc however it doesn't have to be a no limit esc. Any cheap 1/10 scale esc will do.

Let me tell you there isn't much difference between running one cobalt or two. That's why I run a single 14t cobalt. $40 bucks for the motor & on the track it would hang with any bl setup you could throw at it.

-Inverted- 05-13-2006 09:14 PM

RE: Mini LST

I thought any 1/10 ESC would work, but then I saw people running no limit ESC's with their cobalts so I figured you needed a no limit.

blunt 05-13-2006 10:15 PM

RE: Mini LST

Any 1/10 esc will work...its all in how you wire them up. The # turns on these 300 size motors is not comparable to 540 cans. The stock esc is heck of alot better then a spy.

Racing T 05-14-2006 12:15 AM

RE: Mini LST

the stock esc of the mlst better than the spy!??

carmatic1 05-14-2006 10:43 AM

RE: Mini LST

on my stock esc i have improved the contact between the heatsink and the fets that its supposed to be cooling... hotter heatsink, cooler fets... maybe this will mean that my esc is slightly better than stock now

RE: Mini LST

Hey Inverted why would you not run a mamba system? I've heard them to be good.

-Inverted- 05-14-2006 01:14 PM

RE: Mini LST

The mamba is made to replace size 300 motor applications. Many users have burnt up their motor as the truck's size puts too much load on it. Stick with a 370/380 size motor. Anything from B-P-P, other then a mamba would work well.

Dokioto 05-14-2006 01:22 PM

RE: Mini LST

OK, that makes sense. With these brushless motors do you have problems with the diffs wearing/striping?

rsx19 05-14-2006 01:26 PM

RE: Mini LST

or u can run a duel mamba.

i reccomend the wrath with the quark

i heard people have problems with diffs
