How to get rid of those pesky .010's
Har, just recently someone was inquiring about Ken Willard's book of 1/2A projects. I was thumbing idly through a May 1968 AAM just now, and looky looky. Just the thing for a Cox reedie to put a smile on your face some fall afternoon. Of course you may soon wipe that smile right off again of you can't find it afterwards. With that in mind maybe I'll try it with a Sure Start instead.

I love those old mag pics with the suit and tie at the flying field. I can't imagine wearing that stuff while flying models and then surviving the wife's attack when she smelled burnt castor all over them.

I believe it was Walt Mooney that flew all the time while wearing a shirt and tie. It was just the way things were back then and some folks never changed when the fashions changed. Same with a hat. Back in the day a man would no sooner go out of the house without a proper hat than he would without his slacks on.

And then there was Bob Hoover that flew hundreds of air shows wearing not only a coat and tie but ALSO his signature straw hat.

I also build full scale planes and right now I am finishing up an Acrosport II biplane, in the build manual there are tons of pics of Paul Poberezny the designer and founder of the EAA welding, handling tubing, etc. while wearing a tie and vest. *** welds wearing a tie?
