Default Cox .049 Clear Backplate

Would anyone be able to help me out on this? I've never seen one before. I realize it is a backplate but how does it fit and why was it produced?

Does it simply replace the original Babe Bee metal backplate?

That doesn't look like a Cox backplate at all. Is it being advertised on fleaBay as a Cox product by somebody who knows that old Cox bits bring in good money sometimes and had only vauely heard of Cox?

Jetpack,

I believe that is a backplate for a K&B Tornado .049 from the early sisties. I do not have one, I just remember them.

Thanks, just curious what it was. I've never seen one. The closest to it would be in one of their cars I happened to run across on a recent listing, but now know they aren't the same.
