Default Going to Ottawa July 2?

I ran across a post from last year by David Pearson on RCG with the following info:

Dynamic Hobbies S.M.A.L.L. event hosted by the Rideau RC flyers (http://www.rideauflyers.com). The event is sponsored by Dynamic Hobbies which is one of our local hobby shops. The event is hosted at the Rideau RC flyers, providing one of the best RC flying facilities in Canada. See location here: http://www.rideauflyers.com/avmap.html

I checked the site, and they are having a SMALL meet July 2 this year.

I went to their SMALL meet back in the 90s and had a great time. Good fun, some terrific little planes, and I also got in a visit to the National Canadian Air Museum, which turned out to be a great, world class aviation museum. I wrote up a short piece for SMALLnet and Randy Randolph put it in his column in Flying Models along with a picture of one of my planes.

The more the merrier, so chime in if you think you'll go.

If any of you are in the Rideau Flyers club, I hope you'll give us more info.

Jim

COOL! My brother lives in Manotick! That field is "right there".

Hmmm, that is the weekend after the NC speed rally. But no matter, this is now a family visit!

Lessee, I could bring my .010 free flight, a couple of 1/2A sport speed jobs, my .15 Demon.. I like this idea.

Hi Jim,

I've wanted to get to Ottawa SMALL for years...
I work most weekends...

Hopefully this will be the year...

I'll ask for a 4 day weekend, and hope for the best...
I work for a Small Craft Brewery, and will see if I can do a 'promotion' there.
(SMALL Craft...get it !)

My combat buddy wants to go, and we can fill the van with planes.

I'll contact Ken Park and see if he will post this years details here, on RCU.

What shall I bring?
Oh yeah, All of them !
All my planes are S.M.A.L.L. ![8D]

Take care,
Have fun,

Ah Ken Park...I remember now. He's the guy who got it going and the one I was in touch with. Am I right that they stopped doing it for awhile? I always wanted to go back, but I got the impression it wasn't on anymore.

Hi Jim,

I just got off the phone with David Pearson, who is the event organizer for Ottawa SMALL 2011...
(He'll be bringing three Cox .049 planes, I like him already ! [8D])

He will post here on RCU, RCG and RCC with the details.

I am stoked ! There will be a Speed 400/Reedy.049 Pylon Race ! Whoo Hoo !
( Ace tapered foam wings will easily pass the 'minimums' )

I can smell the Nitro and Castor oil already ! And there are Ether addicts there too !

It is, by all accounts, the best flying field (and club) in Canada.

I'm really looking forward to it.

The War Museum/Air and Space Museum will be a 'must see' while I am there.

Actually, It is the people I meet having fun flying model airplanes...

That makes this hobby so much fun.

Take care,
Have fun,

Great news, Dave, thanks for posting. I'm looking forward to hearing more. Now I've got to get something ready for it...my little ones are all derelicts these days.

WooHoo! ! !

I've got the July2nd weekend blocked off at work.
(And have the beer delivery van to get there...)

This is the Year ! I'm getting to Ottawa SMALL !

None of the pathetic excuses of previous years, will stop me...
Anything in my way... will make me stronger in my ambitions !

Ambition, SMALL Ottawa !

Wait till you meet my great friend Johnny'MigYver' ! (Fellow Maac Scale Combat Addict !)

We want at least a day to see the Ottawa War/Air and Space museums too...

We have plenty of planes, to choose from/and to build:

-the 'Billy Bishop' WW1 SE-5 has survived R/C Combat longer than WW1 lasted. Coro built. Countless repairs. (we stopped weighing it 3 yrs ago !)
Flies scale like. [X(] We have no problems going for a Guinness Record of the most weight hauled up by an OSFX.25 !
We will have more...

(I just remembered, to not to not get cut off here...

Ottawa Plane List:
(Continued)

-we will make room for two even performing WW1s for anyone to fly.(Most fun for me !)

-likewise for our .25 WW2 Maac Scale Combat planes. (Nasty Fast, If you like that with .25s !)

-Two .15 'Toronto' type Caution/Enigmas... Beautiful designs, hard to choose between the two.
(I love my 'Caution', and my osfp.15) And .15 engines...

-.10, not this year, again. They just don't go on the bench ! Reason I moved up to .15.

-The love of my life is .049. And the Sound.
It is 'Pure Rotten' to get noise complaints about a nice engine/tank run.

-I am building/re-building my Youth !

I am going to Ottawa SMALL !

All I can tell you is, I have 20 .049 glowplugs,
And balsa and Cox.049s...
( I heard that there was a Reedy/Speed400 race?)
Why even get Serious?

Because I will meet there,

Like Minded Individuals.

And that is a Sweet Sweet thing...

Take care,
Have fun,

P.S. The only things I do not have...:

-a KirnKraft NV for a CoxTD.049 (Don't need one, but would like to see the difference)

-a R/O design for a TD.020 (I just found it ! )
