Default Cox Tee Dee starter spring?

Looking for one of these spring for a Tee Dee 051.
Any idea if a Norvel 061 starter spring fits a Tee Dee 051? Are these better to use than a 1/2A electric starter?

Try an ebay search; the current owner of the cox productions is a seller called xenalook, they have everything. The .049 spring should fit, but an electric starter is easier.

The Norvel springs fit well and one can make a little hole in engine mount instead of the mounting lug (like the Norvels have). I've never owned any electric starter, there is no need for them when if you have the spring starter, and larger engines are easy to hand flip.

TD 049/051 springs have been designed and sent for quote to a spring company.

We should have them available in aprx. 4-6 weeks for presumably $2.95.

No need for a spring starter on a TD. To start a TD, you need a good hot battery. I use a 2 volt with a long cord. Choke it a couple of times with the needle open about three turns. Then squirt fuel on the side of the piston in the exhaust port. Hook up the battery. Turn the prop backwards to vertical. Hit the prop forward with your gloved finger, and adjust the needle to suit. With a little practice this will work every time.

The ones that cause drag use a ratchet that fits over the drive washer. The spring hook must be in constant contact with the ratcher so it will engage when the prop is turned backward. The non-drag spring starter has a larger hook that hooks over a prop blade - you must pull it forward to get it to engage. Once started, the hook never touches the prop.
