No more Youtube, engine videos
I've run into a problem with my Youtube channel. In the last few days, when I go to login, I get a message directing me to add another email address and also asking for my phone number ??
I don't HAVE another email address. And the phone number they're asking for is your cell number,,, which I also don't have.
Has anyone else run into this?

The comment about not watching porn reminded me... the folks that run porn sites for a living work really hard to avoid giving anyone a virus... they are in it to make money and dont want anything to chase away a customer.

Andy, you could also try various recomended free anti-virus products:
http://www.pcmag.com/reviews/security-software
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388652,00.asp
You could tryfree MalwareBytes:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2363509,00.asp
and free Avira:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2394588,00.asp
and free Microsoft Security Essentials:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...ity-essentials
and free Windows Firewall.
The last 3 can operate concurently (always active).
The free MalwareBytes only provides a manual scan which is usefull after a suspected infection.

Yes get a mac!
But no this is not a hack.
Look at the small print it gives you the option to continue without adding a phone number.
It happened to me a few times.

But here's another puzzle. I normally just let my machine go to sleep mode when I'm done for the day.
BUT, for the last week or so, IF I shut it off and restart, I get a message that says that an unauthorized change was made to Windows and I should click on a box to fix it. The other option is to cancel which takes me right back to my login with password page. When I do, I get the same message and canceling just repeats the whole process again and again.
If I click on the box for a fix, I get a very legitimate looking page from Microsoft telling me that Vista is no longer supported and that I can buy Windows 7 for 149.95
??????????
The page gives you a toll free number to call to order Win 7 by phone.
So I call that number and it IS Microsoft in the Philippines. The lady passes me on to support in India. The nice guy has me go through a number of steps to fix the problem but after two hours of this,, no go.
So I find a way to get around this on my own. I do a system restore to five days ago and I'm good to go,,, but only until the next time I shut down. The whole thing starts all over again.
I have a case number and I'll try again using a Microsoft help number that I'm sure is legit IF the first one wasn't.
Could it be that this is a Microsoft scam to sell more Windows7 ??
In any case, hack or not, I don't get any fine print anywhere that lets me opt out.
However, Falco, thanks for all the info on PC protection. Especially that it's free. Paid 50 dollars for Defender but no one can cover everything.

Hi Andy,
I'm only familiar with WXP, but if System Restore does not help then it means your restore filemayalso beinfected.
You should scan your System Volume and Windows files (Win7?) with MalwareBytes and Comodo.
You could try a System File Checker if you have a Win7 Installation Disc; it restores all system protected files.

What flight sims are out for a MAC lol
Get a MAC lol only reason you dont have MAC problems is because not to many people run a MAC and the Hackers dont care to hack them. Why hack a 100,000 macs to give a virus when you can hack 10,000,000 .......
The problem i have seen is that no matter what antivirus, spyware, adaware, worm protection and so on all these programs are made my hackers. I think the only way to prevent them is to have 100 protection programs and all updating all day lol

RE: No more Youtube, engine videos
I misspoke. Today was not the first flight of the year but the first flight in OVER a year. Life is like a box of chocolates they say and my box has had all lemon filling. I hate lemons.
Any way, I forgot the suntan lotion and got a nice sunburn on the face even though I was facing away from the sun. Reflection off the lily white snow. Amazing.
The flying was ohhhh, so gooood. Skis worked great, my own design published years ago in Flying Models. This was a Great Planes Mini-Stik lekkie converted to take the Norvel .074. This time as glow, not diesel. This is one right nice plane. I added a bit of dihedral just to take out the droopy wing look that a flat wing gives you. Yuk.
But my nephew has the same plane as a lekkie and even that way it's stable as heck and responsive as you could ever want. He went for the flap option but man, it's so light with gobs of power he hasn't tried them yet. I'm thinking, slow to a landing, pop the power and flaps at the same time and watch it levitate like a UFO. [X(]
Today, life was good.
Back to my Youtube problems.
Got on to some kind of Google sponsored forum. I asked the question. It wasn't clear when I clicked it but asking for a response got me some two hundred emails about ALL of the responses to ALL of the questions, not just mine. And I still haven't found an answer. It seems that there are multiple, random problems that hundreds of folks are struggling with.
Google has either gone evil or stupid.
I'm going to just let it go, until Youtube implodes or someone comes up with a video sharing site that mimics the old Youtube. They really broke what wasn't broken in the first place. Time to short Google stock. [>:]

Thing is, I've been dabbling with helis for 40 years, since the very beginning and was always held back by the expense of just a small dust up. Sims are the answer but the small screen just didn't hold much appeal. I went nuts this winter and got me a Samsung, 59" plasma. NOW running a Sim will be much more realistic. You can stand at the "monitor" just as if you were at the flying field and use all the proper body language when you get into trouble.
My nephew is into gaming a lot, maybe I'll try that. [:@]

The good news is that Spybot got rid of the Microsoft pop up when I turn on the computer. The bad news is that I still can't get logged in to Youtube.
It doesn't appear to be malware, looks like Googletube has gone insane. [:'(]

Andy: YOU ARE NOT INFECTED. At least, not from what you are seeing with the MS stuff. The "unauthorized change" just means a trigger was tripped in Microsoft's paranoid anti-piracy/software protection spyware that you pay for when you buy Windows or any Windows-based computer. MS's "solution" is to purchase a legit license for the copy of Windows you're running, because they assume in that case that your copy is not properly licensed. Of course, MS tried to sweep Vista's sorry remains under the rug like a cat covering its poo, so when you go to the licensing page, your are brought to a Win7 option instead.
If you can get your Vista machine to a point where it tells you the license key is invalid, you may be able to "change" the license key....all you have to do is type in the key as it appears on the side of your computer. Now as to why it got tripped off like that....hard to say. I have seen viruses cause this "change", but it could also be a driver update, a third-party program gone awry, or Vista just being Vista. But you CANNOT fix it without dealing directly with the Vista licensing screen. Even then you may still end up needing to reinstall Vista.
But one thing is certain, you DON'T have to give MS another $150 and get Win7.
Matt

Macs aren't any better. It's just that there are so few of them nobody cares to screw with them.

you need a mac
you need a mac
But the MS bug is back. I have to hit F8 as the machine starts to get to a repair page of sorts. If I enter debugging mode, the login screen shows and I can login normally. It's not a permanent fix though.
Matt,
Thanks for the information. Yes, it appears that in the case of MS and YT, both are not malware but unintended consequences of changes and/or just bad design. I will say though, that Spybot ROCKS. Took two hours and found 119 issues. Geez, Defender Pro, what's up with that?
You know, I NEVER had problems with XP, it did all I needed. Youtube, just a year ago was perfect, no need to change anything. I never had any problems. The original developers are probably cringing,, while relaxing at the beach with margaritas at the side. And likely some goddess in a bikini next to them too. I can dream,,,,
I'm going to call MS today and spend some of THEIR money on this. Too bad the wages go offshore,,, maybe not today though.
I still have a glow on from yesterdays flying in the sun. [8D][8D]
