Default Pilot QB series plane

I think, but may be wrong, it was called The Baby or something like that. It was a high wing tail dragger for an 0.49 two channel plane. I would love to build another one of those. Any one know what I am talking about?? Any where to get planes for it?

thanks.

Thats the one. I enjoyed flying that plane. I had a Black Widow on the nose and full sized Futaba gear. It flew better after I put my Cox 3 channel mini gear in it. It should fly a whole lot better with some 9 gram servos and a throttled 061.

Built and flew one as well. Had a Baby Bee .049, and full sized airborne receiver/servos back in the late 70's.

Compaired to the foam wing models, this one was lighter, and the wing was a true Clark-y, overall a nice looking and flying model. Basic stunts and flying ease, one of the better 1/2a kits to start with.

Was also offered as a RTF version. Still have the plans(just 1 of the two sheets), although repaired with a bit with tape, "rice paper(?)" plans were quite thin.

A build thread on this one would be cool.

I may just do a build thread on this plane. I may cut out a second one and build it E powered just to see how each flies.

I know they are a little larger then 1/2A, but I learned how to fly on a Pilot QB15H !! The QB (quick build) series had high and low wing designs, and the QB15H was designed for a .15, and had a high wing/cabin design. I flew mine with an original O.S. Max .10 FSR I remember buying brand new for about $70 back in the mid 80's. HAd to leave the gear off and hand launch it to save weight

Later I flew the QB15L which was a HOT low winger with ailerons, and I first had an older OS 15, then a K&B 20 and finally a Thunder Tigre pro .25 in it! It did the fastest snap rolls of any plane I have ever had previous or since then (lost it about 12 years ago when the aileron servo failed and it spun in).

Pilot had some great kits!

My brother and I bought a set of the QB 15H's that came with a Thunder Blunder .15. We flew the snot out of those planes. We flew in rain, snow, wind, you name it we abused that little plane. I even put a Wanderer 72 wing on mine. Still flew well. We had skis on them for winter flying. We had such a short run way, we went to full power and did a pylon race start. I would push it as hard as I could and my brother would horse it off the ground. We did so many snaps on take off it is amazing that the planes lasted for as long as they did.

I would like to see all of the Pilot kits come back.

Is there any place I can buy or obtain a copy of that kit? It is the one I seen just after I first got my hands on a Cox plastic one just like it when I was a kid, and the design opened my eyes and realized planes dont have to all look like a Cub. It was the first time I seen a high performance type private plane. I loved it.

I had some exposure to hobby catalogs at that time and my eyes popped out when I first seen that kit advertised. I thought how great it would be if there were only a balsa version of my Cox "whip toy" where I would actually see a model use its own wings and power to fly.

I did love running the engines, but a better performing C/L was my goal. I went on to build a BabeBee 18" yellow and red plank Shoestring. Can't find that one either. I think it was a Goldberg or Scientific kit.

I have a Pilot kit plan of a racing monoplane boat and from that I see it is not drawn to scale, and not very good at using to build a kit from without templates without havnig to draw out a few of your own templates.

Is there any other Little Toni 1/2A kits that are scale such as this one?

I'd be interested in a set of plans for the 1/2A Toni, if anyone knows of where one could find them. I've raced .15 size and .40 size Toni's in years past, but it would be a great place for a TD .049 or even the Norvel .061 that are currently laying around..

The Little Toni has full size Part's plan's and building plan's also, maybe I can take them to kinko's and make a disk and send you guys that are interested. I don't have anyway to scan them myself, anybody that has any idea's let me know.

Again tried to down load pic's of parts and building plan's no luck will try later.
