K&B Infant .020
One of the neatest of the early half-A engines has to be the K&B Infant .020.
They were great for converted small stick model free flight as they didn't have a lot of power and flyaways were rare.
The only problem with running them nowadays is trying to find a glo-plug.
They use a special button-type plug and I wish I could find a supply of them.
PAL made a beautiful copy of the Infant and the parts will interchange with an original.
The PAL repro has a longer venturi and can be seen in the pictures.
Just curious if anyone is still running these little beauties.

Dan,
I had one of these little beauties let's say . . . um . . . maybe . . . was it fifty years ago?! Holy moley!
My mother got rid of all my modelling stuff (burning my old Flying Models and M.A.N. magazines!) when I went into the Army. Sure wish I had all those woderful "toy engines" now - with a couple of spare glow plugs. In the meantime I'll try to make do with my TD .010s

A quick check of the PAL website hows they still have the Infant plugs available at $6.50 apiece.

Dan I'm only going by what is currently shown on the PAL website-the Infant replica image has a 'sold out' overlayed on the image, as does the Graupner 5x2 prop image-the other items do not-so depending how often they update the site, it is reasonable to assume they are still available..........

Chris, I'm not sure about replacement plugs.
Sometimes guys will do one run of engines and then move on to something else. I made 24 engine boxes for the original Infant run and don't know if Bob did another run after that or not.
When I was making boxes for Arne Hende he usually did runs of 100 pieces and then did more if they sold quickly.
Some, like the McCoy & Dooling .09 diesel versions were around 50 pieces.

I Have three Infants, one original and two repos. along with a .035 and a .049 of the same configuration. All run well. I power small free flight models from that period with the infants. As the attachment shows, I still have one more kit to build, A Guillows Pixy. These engines are a lot of fun to run.

Geezer, I like your Infant FF models. Bet they are a lot of fun to fly.
I have a K&B .049 Torpedo too and thankfully it takes a regular plug. I bought an .035 Torpedo Jr. in a little hobby shop in Vallejo, Calif. around 1959 and still don't know what happened to it. I think the .035 is the rarest of those three.
Finding plugs for the .020 can be a problem.
