NVRC - Final 1/2A Shrike Race
Ken B. deserves a big kudos for organizing the NVRC 1/2A Shrike races this
year. Even though the rain dampened the season by a race or two,
everyone who participated had a great time. Once people start
hearing about the hundreds of dollars in prize money handed out
yesterday, rest assured, more racers will turn out for next year.
Considering the rate that these planes go down, a backup airframe
would be nice to have. If interested, give Jason a ring as he has 6
or 7 airframes built up for some new racers and I believe 3 of them
still need a home.
Just a thought, considering how Doug's Hobbies helped us out, we
should make small run of t-shirts and put Doug's logo on the back for
free. Something corny like:
Front:
(picture of a Shrike for a logo)
NVRC 1/2A Racing Team
Back:
(Doug's logo)
Life starts at 21,000 RPM
Let me know if there is an interest in the shirt idea and I can get
some quotes.
Thanks

RE: NVRC - Final 1/2A Shrike Race
Deadstick, send me your email and I'll send some pics of the framed up Shrike. I'll be on vacation next week, returning Friday.
The Shrikes are built up with DB 506 engine mount installed, drilled for Norvel 061. The servo rails are installed for HS 55 on throttle, HS 81s on Aileron and Elevator. The aileron torque rods are installed. The engine area and fuel tank area in the fuse is doped black. The Fuselage and hatch is covered (much easier to do during construction).
To finish you need to:
* Cover wings, stab, fins, ailerons, elevator
* Install 1oz fuel tank
* Install engine, attach throttle rod
* Install servos and RX
* Install ailerons and elevator (hinge slots already cut, but need to drill small hole for torquerods in aileron.
* Attach aileron pushrods to torque rods (which is 2x56 threaded rod)
* Install elevator horn and pushrod and your are done.
The whole enchilada is $60 plus shipping. This includes the framed up kit with smoe additional HW like the enigne mount and torque rods.
