Your attendance is required. This is # 25. You don't know what you might miss if you are not there.

SMALL is the most fun a flyer of small-engined models could possibly have. The models are amazing, the flying is mesmerizing, and the attendees, well, they are characters. Some of my favorite modeling memories are from our trips there. If you haven't been, you owe it to yourself to go. Many folks travel long distances to participate in the shenanigans. I have met lots of new friends there and laughed until my sides hurt at times. With that said, I'm gonna miss it again this year. I fully intend to get my priorities in order and get back to Little Rock in 2015 with a squadron of Cox-powered flyers.

Some observations I've made at previous events:

An AMA card is required but deodorant is not.
If you crash into someone's parked plane, he might return the favor later.
Beware the Drunk Pilot Edition Cox Huey Helicopter!
Electric fences aren't as effective on modelers as livestock.
Rules are made to be broken.

What's the record for the number of 1/2A models in a suitcase?

There are no records kept regarding SMALL. But it is not unusual for a pilot to bring 50 plus airplanes to the event. If the planes are broken into SMALL pieces I would think a lot could be put into a suitcase.

Who knows?! It sounds like some of the best fun you can have with your pants on. I need to work out the summer calendar, there are quite a few fly-ins/air shows on the docket this season as I have a slightly recently restored slightly larger scale model itching to go places too.

Been busy dragging stuff out of closets & back rooms. I'll cram as much of this junk in the Rav4 as I can. What a pile of (stuff) I've accumulated from 25 years of hanging with you boys!

I don't have my list finalized, but I'll have at least one control line, two glow r/c, two free flight glow, some rubber free flight, some R/C electrics including multirotors, and a rocket (Big Bertha).

I plan on making it this year as well. It has been 2 years since we have been able to go. Does not look like my boys can go... school not quite over given end-of-year testing, etc. Bummer... They always get a kick out of it flying and talking to everyone.

    Preparing the Skycopter...

I wish it was a 12 hour drive or less.. I'd love to cram some cl, a monocopter, a FF or two and whatever other stuff in a car and do a road trip! Sounds like a serious good time. Air fare is about $800 though.

It is. Use way-points. On the way down stop in Dayton and see the AF museum at Wright-Patterson. On the way back, spend a day in Nashville (you may decide to move down here if you do though). I promise, it's worth it. You'll never find a place outside of SMALL where it's easier to make new friends.

TeeBee-If you can make it next year with your Cox Powered Fleet, I'll fly from California to smell those Cox engines running! That would be worth the trip....heck I may just throw a few Cox powered birds in the car and drive out there. I've been wanting to attend for years but have been waiting for a Cox powered models gathering. Let's plan to make SMALL 2015 the year where Cox rules again!

Looking forward to all the photos from SMALL 2014.....have fun guys!

    Best,
    Tony

If you have been waiting for a COX gathering, you have been missing out. Every year there are a number of COX engines in all kinds of flying ? objects. Where else could you witness a mass launch of COX Skycoptors.

I have at least 3 Sky Copters packed & an Apache .049 C/L autogyro to try, + a couple flying saucers & other asst oddities. Be there about 10:00 tomorrow.

1 week after the close of the 2014 SMALL, no comments or posts. Did anybody get to SMALL? Or has RCU bit the dust?
