Default K&B parts

Looking for a rear cover, thrust washer & needle valve for a K&B (Allyn) .098 Sky Fury Twin . Parts from a Sky Fury .049 single should work or a whole engine, a gasket set would be a plus also. MAX H.

Did you ever find the Sky Fury parts you needed?

I am also looking for something. Need a fuel needle for the 1.5 Twin.

Thanks

D A T : Found the rear cover & a friend had a after market flex needle made by "Perfect" I think is better than original (no burnt fingers) Still need thrust washer but found a guy that has one & dealing on that . Saw your post somewhere looking for a needle & thought good luck . MAX H.

Max,

Re: Thrust washer- Do you have to have an original? If not, you could make one if you had access to a small lathe. Just a thought...

Also, I made a mistake on my original post. My Sky Fury is a 1.5 Twin.

I found the Fuel tube I was loking for on Ebay. A neat flying shop in Indy has a box of NOS parts, amoung which, was a "Perfict" flex needle (probably like the one you found). The shop name is Stick and Rudder. Phone # 317-243-7983 Good prices and friendly people.

Did you find the gaskets you were looking for? I ended up making a set for my Sky Fury. If you wand to know how, I'd be glad to share info.

I have a couple of the Fury 049 engines. But where do you locate an original type glow head? The replacement types all had lower compression. There has been a fellow hauling Fury 074 parts to local meets in the Los Angeles area, but is fished out of 049 parts.

CoosBayLumber: My little Fury .098 Twin had never been run so I was lucky there . You can get the head insert from Burnis Ray ([email protected] ) This is the part that takes the glow plug. You might check the shop that D A T is talking about. CYA, MAX H.

I have one of the little twins that I haven't gotten to run. I haven't had a chance to tinker with it, but I expect there is an air leak somewhere.

I had been explained that the poor performance of the Fury is due in part to loss of compression caused by "replacement" glow plugs. The replacement or two piece styles lessen the compression because of their extra volume around the element. The one part aluminum designs had a more compact hole around the element. Less of a C.C. raises the compression.

I have a few old glow heads to which I could chuck up in the lathes and fit for a now standard glow plug, but would then too get poorer running. I have had the Fury since new in the 1950's and only use it upon occasion. Wish there was a way of fixing the original glow heads as I ahve a few.

Found this while perusing another topic. Perhaps they can help with your glow plug problem. Had a Sky Fury twin once. It was a bear to start. I THINK mine was a .12 or .15. Can't remember...heck that was in the late 1950's. It grew legs.
