Could just fuel proof the flying surfaces and test the plane as is.

If it's too floaty on landings then start speed shaping the flying surfaces till it's
bearable to land while still protecting the prop to get great top end speed.
One thing for sure is it will be nice to hand launch with the wing up top for
a change should be able to hurl this wee one up 40 ft before it levels off.

What is the green prop? Looks like a lekkie prop, ooh the safety police will get you for spinning it slower than an electric motor can..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121879344269...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Can recommend the load is in the sweet zone for the TD .010 and you get 3x2 vs Cox 3x1.25
The thinner, narrow blades allow good rpm. The proportions are better suited and
can allow some cutting down for more top end speed Est. static 2.6x2 / 27.8k / 53 mph
My order of 35% nitro came in should unload to 30k + / 57 mph.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQEtHXrHo6w Published on Feb 1, 2016
Not on vid but after some final needle tweaking:
20% Nitro and Oil: 3x2 drone prop
Best Static 26,597 rpm / 50.3 mph / 2.8oz thrust / 22w
Unloaded should make for a 50 mph micro speedy with the
right design 3ch target weight 4.5oz.

The prop dia at 3in is a bit big for the engine displacement for speed
given the dia for TD .020 and .049 a 2.7in x 2.5 would be a great for
the mighty lil .010. If unloaded to 31.5k / 2.2oz thrust / 75 mph.

Looks like it should be lots of fun at that weight. The .010 seemed to lose 700-800 rpm top end over the course of the run. How was the heat on that prop?

So far its the one to beat, the over all shape and size out classes the beefy low pitch cox prop.
It has the thrust and the pitch to make a big jump in performance over what we have had to
work with for the last 50 yrs. The flight vid is going to be worth the wait. No more screaming
and lumbering around. I will be running with a 18% castor 2% synthetic / 35% nitro mix.
The pill tank has been tested and the engine is able to draw all the fuel out without any
apparent lag.

Nice, looking forward to the flight report. The stock .010 prop is outdated by the ability to build compact 3.5 oz RC models.

Yes was designed for FF, gliders, old timer's designs and for a spell folks enjoy making small
CL planes with them. Today we can do what many dreamed of back in the old escapement days.
Even the Cannon RC system wasn't low enough in weight to get a true spirited flight.
I flew a friends 2 channel .010 Lil Stick back in 89 with Futaba mini servos and there small 4ch RX
with there AAA battery holder. The integrated tank allowed about 3 mins of fun but the plane
just flew nothing special in climb rate yet we all said then this is what they dreamed of doing
with the Cannon system considered heavy at that time.

Its all covered total weight with all gear including the micro switch and weight of the nylon surface horns.

127g / 4.47 oz

Even the small ones can be time consuming and tedious to cover... or I'm just getting old.
Neon colors are nice and bright should spot out well from the cheap seats. The pink represents
the amount of wing I would like to be at and what stands out at speed.

Pic of the standard the (modified 3x1.25P / 28.1k} vs (3x2P / 26.6k)
Stock prop gets like 26.5k readings with 20% nitro 35% came in the
mail so will test that next. These drone props are touted as
being supper tough. The do flex enough to help protect the blade
at the hub. Thin composite plastic in black, orange and green.

3x2.5" T-Type 3020 (RX3020) Multirotor Propeller
The manufacture list it as a 3x2.5
If so at 26.6k static / 63 mph.
Est. unloaded 29.4k / 70 mph.

4.7oz fueled all up RTF.

Tested new plane tank set up checked with 20% nitro for comparison
to the bench tests. The tank is positioned well gets a bit more rpm.
Static: 26,647 rpm 3x2.5 prop / 63 mph.
Should unload great on 35% nitro good for 60+

Wow, nicely done on that Guillows model in the videos. Not only is it a genuine flying example of a Guillows kit, but RC and .010 powered to boot!

I did grit my teeth while he ground away at it with the starter.. poor thing..

Without a spring starter your forced to adapt, a small 200 size can motor on 6v might be ok with a thrust washer. I wouldn't dare prime the cylinder would have to start up when there is just enough fuel.

Tested the fresh 35% nitro
Modified stock cox prop.

Static 30,447 rpm. / 3.2oz thrust / 36 mph / .020 hp.
2.35k jump over the older batch of 20% / 28.1k

3020 drone prop
Static 27,412 / 2.5oz thrust / 52 mph / .024 hp.
812 rpm jump.

New battery came in so installed it, much smaller than the LiFe 200 mah
150 man NiMH weighs in at 15.9g First charge it took 107mah will run it
down in a discharge cycle and see what the smart charger can cram in.
I imagine around 170mah. Will keep it to 3 flights till I find out what's being used.

Ready to fly on Sat. will post a vid:
4.6oz less fuel.

Siriro .09 came in the mail / 170 deg timing 114g. as shown.
Non pull start engine came with a back plate so already less
fuss to set up.

Here compared to the stock Vertigo .07

So the Siriro has an integral slide carb. I like the bottom mount. It would be quite simple to mount, even with a cowl. Much better than the regular beam mounts. I wonder who makes them, if it is Novarossi, Picco, OPS, or it's own company? An .09 is an odd size, not even good for the Australian 1/2A, maybe. Nothing here that it will fit in for competition at least.

Hi Alan, I posted the Italian company info back on the other page:

Sirio .0915 / 1.5cc / Rear exhaust / Integrated slide carb.
Per car vid speed test read 33,680 rpm in stock form.

Star Motors Engineering in Italy manufactured the engine
STAR MOTOR (the manufacturer of SIRIO engines)
G. Voghera and Andrea Rossi was paid to help design the .09 engine.

The Vertigo .07 nemesis for sure as size / weight wise it will work on the Skorch II
You can invert a beam type mount and bolt on from the underside.
Might be able to get another 20 mph with the engine being a true FIRE.

Edit:
I will set up the carb like the GS V12R using a 90deg nipple and remote needle.
I bought a spare Russian .09 tuned pipe just for this engine. No turbo plug the
washer has twice the dia. of a standard washer, same thickness.

It looks quite interesting. The motor could be attached to a mount made from angle aluminum. Looks like the needle will stick up into the prop, and the pipe straightened out, and the exit hole opened up? Seems a shame to not use the pipe. Is it a Turbo style plug?

Got in two flights today bit windy out there gusty 9 to 14 mph seemed worse in the open field.
Used the black flexible stock prop due to wind and unknown landing qualities, Need to move
the CG forward to help the airfoil from ballooning the plane was a bit of a rocking horse do to
wind. Would tuck and dive when the wind grabbed it. 35% nitro 20% oil

Black Cox Prop 3 x 1.25
- In the hand 27,201 rpm - just before launch
- Best pass 35,186 / 42 mph
- Average passes 33k
- Run time with a lot of throttle play 12.54 mins.
- Full throttle run about 10 mins.

Roll rate is good, loops are strong with plenty of power and enough wing to tighten them up.
Landings into the wind today was a breeze. Temp about 72 deg. Sunny with clouds.
Throttle worked great with great range of speed options in idle the plane would start to sink
great for landings. Both times I resisted landing till the engine died.

2 flights over 20mins in total on the 150mah batteries voltage when I got it back in
from flying shows 5.28v

- Nominial resting rate after a full charge and over night sit 5.45v
- Fully charged on the charger 6.05v
- It will settle down to 5.68v off the charger about 30mins later.
- charging it back up the plane used 38mah wow really good news..
- looks like I can get 5 flights per session using the 3.7g servos with spare power.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU0Le8UVXbw Note after launching into the wind most of this flying is cross wind
to avoid the gusty conditions also shows more true speed without
the aid of swan diving from up wind. Plus the sun was up wind and
I hate flying towards the sun.

Nicely done! Yeah, you can see the twitchiness in pitch, that can be unsettling.. but looks like a winner.

Yea don't know if it was ground rollers coming off the big field by the parking area but certain spots it
would tuck up to 15ft. As small as it is going fast any change other than whats expected can shock ya...!

I added a new carbon rod to move the wing back for windy days / forward CG solid sit in the air 23%.
Double checked the incidence it was fine so added about 3 deg down thrust instead.

Some of the diving / tucking really ramp up the rpm so I conditioned a Cox grey prop by adding
more pitch more like a 3 x 1.6 now to help lower the high rpm spikes.

Also noted I had the mic volume on 100% so lowered it to 80% to help reduce wind noise.

Update mods helped was sitting well in the rough winds today.

Tested the Green Drone Prop 3x2E
Best pass cross wind 32,792 rpm / 62 mph
Solid pull better loops and faster turns great prop!

Down wind passes:
33,941 rpm / 64 mph - Looks like about 55 mph.

Best down wind stock Cox black prop 36,256 rpm / 43 mph
- I never knew the TD .010 could make that much rpm!

Another note was able to get in 5 flights all over 10mins +
5.07v left after recovering for about 3hrs
Will charge up the 150mah battery and post usage.

Edit:
Dynamite 150 mah pack took 98mah back in the pack after
5 flights over 10mins ea. when charged leaving 52 mah left.
Average of 19.6mah per flight.

Lil Speedy TD .010 / Test Flight 3x2E Green Drone Prop
Best pass cross wind 32,792 rpm / 62 mph / per prop calc.
Solid pull better loops and faster turns great prop with a throttle.

Down wind passes:
33,941rpm / 64 mph - per 2in pitch / calc
Didn't quite get on the sweet spot with the needle tad rich
very fine adjustment to have it singing steady.

Worked on the Italian Sirio .09 FIRE Engine

- 2 ports
- liner inside the sleeve
- unique button top piston
- 170 ish deg timing
- Slide carb
- Remote needle

121g as shown

Will need at least a 3oz tank for this thirsty engine, it's now ready to bench test as is.
I don't really like the prop nut / thrust plate arrangement but it does work no pressure
on the front bearing / rather on the crank's step.

APC 5.25x6.25E
Per AP Hornet .09 and the ASP .12 data est:
Cut to 4.8x 6.25 / 20.6K / 122 mph static.
Russian pipe est it should jump to 24k / 142 mph

Vertigo .07 VS Sirio .09

I have a spare stock aluminum spinner nut they are 4mm bore
will have to tap for 5mm and cut off the excess shaft.

Don't really understand what you are talking about there, it looks like regular stuff to me?

Hmm, it doesn't look so good, to be honest, is there any pinch at TDC?
Looks like they over did it a little on the machining of the piston, it only needs a very slight relief/taper at the top to avoid the very top surface of the piston to bite at TDC. See the REX .12 below as a comparison.

The porting mostly resembles the OS LA series, to me, so it might have a good fuel economy?
Did you measure the exhaust timing yourself or is that factory data?

Looks good though. Chrome liner. The LA style ports work very well for the LA. It runs faster than the previous FP did with the extra bypass port. The .049 Fora only has two bypass ports as well, and they go fairly well. I found a larger carb on the LA made no improvement, so they must have worked out the port sizes to the max (min.?) The slide carb could be a bit of a problem, especially with a built in carb like that, which can not be exchanged.

Just reporting my findings what's not to understand? The engine seals great at TDC and will do even better once broken in.
The piston appears to be made out of steel with an aluminum button top allowing good seating after break in.

The piston influence is by Andrea Rossi he was commissioned to help design the engine. The engine came with an extensive manual.
Yes I checked the timing its a easy process to do, I have been checking them for all the tuned pipe vids posted. It visually closes
off at 170 but I say "ish" because it seals at around 172. "Unique button top for me as it is the only engine I own like this and porting
not so regular as the only other 2 stroke / two port engines I owned are Cox engines.

The slide carb works very well with the the GS Pro V12RR (see bench testing vid) the advantage is no restriction in the
venturi when open at full bore. You get instant on / wham full power in a snap. You can by replacement parts for the carb
setup but don't see any future need to worry about that. I do plan to polish the intake. The hole is bigger than a TD .09

The carb is designed to be leak proof and I imagine set up for best throttling with no barrel in the way
the intake hole is actually a good size. Major weight savings not having a separate carb assembly and
associated accommodations cast on the crankcase. At 121g its not much more heavy than the Vertigo.
This savings will allow it to work on the nose of the Skorch II without much fuss with the CG.

How about them TD .010 Lil Speedy vids have you guys messed with RC .010 at some point?
