Lol yes true, but could do one called Lil Sticklet : fully symmetrical airfoil and the
fuselage went on a lean mean diet along with the size of the tail feathers things
could improve with still having the general look.

I have had time to do Doppler readings the prop calc had it showing 116 mph
The NV setting is not quite right the engine is surging and the smaller dia is
now loosing some thrust most Doppler reads where not so good it was
a long legged pass that built up the best read:

178.04 Km/h - 110.63 mph

Have made a new prop narrow cut 2.75x3 will try next.
This one should bust the current top reading. Est. 39k
and the NV should be a bit more broad. Mike note for E-flite
you need to oil the blade prior to use as the high nitro will
take the shine off the blade. Best thing is a clear coat if you
don't want dull spots streaks. They don't bother the strength
of the blade.

Stock vs Modified / 1,344 rpm less / 49.63 mph more

How does the construction look, strong enough in your opinion? Any spanwise fibers in those blades?

Yes strong enough, I have already used this brand with the TD .020 a 4x2.8 good performance in stock form.

I expect the 3030 to be good general performance with the TD .010 but for top speed needs they need to be modified.

The props show carbon weave across the top of the hub but not the bottom same build style as the 4x2.8 which did just fine peaking 31,320 rpm at 83 mph with a run time of 8.44 mins.

I am tempted to fly as is just to get a base line but I know it wont be up to par.

Could also try one with the TD .020 it will scream up to 37.5k + my guess / 108 mph.
If I put the plane in idle mode then bang the throttle and point the plane into a
hard climb the blades will get the brunt of max load for a good stress test.

Here it is the first 100 mph TD .020 / 3ch RC plane!

E-flite modified to: 3.5 x 3.5 / 1.9g

This prop will get 30k / 100 mph.

So far best run:
3.75x3 / 1.3g / 31,257 rpm / 148.37 km h / 92.19 mph
Robust at the hub enough to handle a TD.049

This looks like a good fit so must try the Carbon 3030 on the TD .020
Could hit 38k down wind for 110 mph on Doppler
All around rpm will be fun to hear at a steady 35k
Will still turn briskly and zooming climbs should be good.

Equates to the loading of a TD .049 with a 4x4

With the 2.5x3N I have a static 32,219 rpm in the field / 35% nitro the needling was
not rushed, I found the peak and then backed off a tad flew and almost
hit 40.61k in the air best pass most passes hit 39k the engine still needed
tweaking it was wavering going rich is my guess. If you raised the nose up
and set for peak then when level it would go a bit rich so I set the NV level
and that helped in the over all flying. Testing the 2.74x3 today with my
plane at 3.1 with fuel I may see bit better Doppler readings to get closer
to 115mph.

110.63mph is good but I think there is a bit more left to eek out.

Will be testing the 3030 on the TD .020 this weekend too and the 3535.

I have to be at the field early as winds are up all weekend. It will be 64F
I may bail on this weekend the winds are just bad and its cloudy.
Will post vid of anything note worthy.

Mike how did the tach test go??

Too windy this weekend so I did a tach test myself here are the results with the new carbon race prop.

The prop, cut from a 3.75x3, is still wider than yours and a bit crude in that I only quickly reshaped the TE quickly without much finess, and it has two coats of lacquer each side because I was thickening it a bit to make a mold before the 3x3 CF came onto the scene. So that added about 4 mils. I had a steady 29,700rpm with brief peaks just over 30k. Temp was 30F, 25% car fuel plus castor.

That's not bad considering the temp / nitro content a bit more detail on the trialing edge finish should
have it over 30+k consistently in the field. The Skat Cat will bust 100 mph easy enough if you use 35%
Once your all up and running with the modified props the limits will take less time to find as your already
in the right range and prop type.

Yeah, you did all the hard work, now I just have to change some dimension a little bit to make it an original idea..

Actually, one bit of decadent laziness I have in mind is to draw the 3x3 in CAD, then trim the props symmetrically on a fixture in the laser cutter..

That will keep them accurate for sure good idea. The carbon prop carries a tad bit more weight
by nature and has a thicker blade. The E-flite is already born for perfection after some trimming.
Scimitar tips would be worth trying to stretch some thrust.

HQProp 3030 3x3 BLACK MultiRotor propeller CW,CCW Mini 130 Quadcopter QAV150

Have 4 of these to try after seeing great results with the TD .020 this have a more
molded airfoil should produce tad more thrust within the same rpm range. They
may be ok for the TD .010 the hub appears a bit big though.

HK makes a 2g servo good for new smaller low weight higher speed designs.
Servo is made for 3.7v lipo cell. You can get a 2.8g RX for very light weight
designs with plenty of torque. Single small 4g / 160 mah lipo is key for weight reduction.

Next Gen very simple for low drag and weight / thin ply fuselage all balsa flying surfaces.

No curved belly to reduce drag and weight full scale drawing with servo sized for reference.

30 micro tanks 5cc and 10cc for the .010 and .020 for less then 15 bucks shipped.
Up to 5 mins with the screaming TD .010 for a mere 2.2g the tank holds 5g of fuel.
These tanks get integrated into the fuselage never to be removed. Both the NANO
and Lil Speedy had minimum width as I glue the fuselage sides in place using the
tank as a former then put top and bottom sheeting on. Simple fast build up.
Update built the 10cc tank weight with fuel came out ok. The Lil Spedy has
a 15cc tank will be a plus when it us upgraded to the next size .8cc engine.

My order from HK came in today for the 3030 I had ordered them suckers back on the 14th of last month odd I get them on the 14th of this month lol.

Bought two sets of Left / Right hand props from a Texas hobby shop on ebay to review the props quickly.
Of course they wanted premium price $12.95 for two sets or er $6.48 a prop ouch -shipping was free.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/262356470725...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I have a total of 12 left hand carbon props enough now to on hand to last and perhaps mod a few.
The others at HK are $2.21 per set er per left hand prop. Shipping wasnt much bout $2.38 a prop in the end.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...cw_1pair_.html

Nice props can recommend and results with the TD .020 for speed is excellent.
The TD .010 will need the prop clipped and back cut and resealed. I don't think
it is worth doing with the ease of use with the E-flite mods and plenty strong.

On another note IQ Prop has a plastic 3030 I have an order of them
in as well. These will produce more thrust the wider blade provides
a bit more beef at the hub for a plastic prop and should be strong
enough to spin up to 38k no problem with the TD .020 Not as fancy
as the carbon props but will have better vertical. Speed between
the two will be close. Within 8 mph the carbon should be faster.

Note you can order just the 3x3B and have two Left hand props in the package.

TD .010 throttle sleeve:

Source:
9.3mm ID External Circlip
http://www.hjfasteners.com/product.a...asscode=107102

K&S 10mm OD thick walled aluminum tube

10 x .89mm Heavy Wall Aluminum Tube from K&S Engineering.:
http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/k+s/k+s9812.htm

Product Specifications
Length: 11.89 (302mm):
Diameter: 0.39 (10mm):
Hole Diameter: 0.29 (7.5mm):
Wall Thickness: 0.035 (.89mm)
K-S Product Number: 9812

Note OD of the cylinder is 8mm you will need to remove a hair
worth of the inside wall of the aluminum tube to slip into place
be patient and lap it in carefully for good fit. You can choose
to remove the black coating off the cylinder to speed up the fit.

Again, you must remove the skirt, file off carefully to avoid damage to the cylinder threads.
I taped off the threads and used my table top grinder to remove the bulk of the skirt.
I then used a fine file to flush it down.

File or turn a shallow 9.75 mm OD groove for the Circlip to rest in.
You will need a snap tool or flat head screw driver to expand it out
over the 10mm OD tube and slide into place.

Welp I pulled the trigger on the next generation RC gear for the DART

Local Texas hobby store is mailing me some micro stash.
- Three of the 1.7g digital ultra micro servos (1 spare backup or may add throttle)
- 2g 4ch RX 3.6v to 9v (charged 4.2v nominal 3.7v)
- 2.2g with - 150mah 1S 3.7v lipo vs NANO 80mah Nimh / 10.9g 4.8v

New set up 7.6g / 2ch or 9.3g / 3ch for all the on board RC gear vs old NANO set up 18.9g
Finally gear that can operate on 1S and very small.

Dart 20 and ( Lil Speedy 20 / 14.5in fuselage)

Dart 10 VS (NANO 10 / 10.75in fuselage)

Could mod to eek out more rpm.
