RE: APC props for Norvel 061 AME
Kustom Kraftsmanship used to make brass tubes to fit over Cox cranks and size them for APC holes. Ive used various kinds of tubing to solve similar problems.

You can make up a bushing out of brass/aluminum tubing. That is what I do for the 5X3 for Cox engines. Super easy to do.

RE: APC props for Norvel 061 AME
I just use a little bit of fuel tubing, learned it from someone here and it always seems to work just fine, plus it's cheap and there is always some around.
why do you think the hole is so big on the APC props anyways? What do they fit? Does anyone know who they are trying to make it wasy for??? It doesn't fix Cox, Norvel, G Mark, AP, or Enya don't know about VA or the Thunder Tiger .07.
Really though, what is the deal, is it for some electric thing that I don't know about?
sorry for the tangent....

RE: APC props for Norvel 061 AME
Thanks for the help, I've used the brass tubing and forgot about the fuel line thanks "prole". Do you put the fuel line in the front or in the back of prop? What is up with the big hole, is there an engine with that big crankshaft? If so I want one! Thanks again for the help I just forgot,

the fuel tubing should fit in the hole in the prop and around the Norvel shaft.
I cut a piece that is as long as the prop hub is thick so it is flush on the front and back. Slide it over the prop screw and tighten it up.
works good....

(silicon tube adapter) I`ve done that too- it seems unlikely but I have never had a prop run off centre and vibrate like that.
(Prop hole) I have read that it is to do with their injection/moulding process, and that they cannot make it any smaller...

RE: APC props for Norvel 061 AME
i just got an order from Campbell's Custom Kits that Included very nice bushings for APC props for .020s. Call Lee and talk to him. Frankly, I'm not sure I'd be totally comfortable with fuel tubing. But I'm old and I am often too fussy with details.

The fuel tubing simply keeps the prop centred until the bolt is tightened. It doesn't support the prop after that. Bushings are nicer though, because the fuel tubing can be a bit of a pita to put on sometimes, especially in cold weather with numb hands.

Fuel tubing is not a good idea because it can compress to one side and not properly center the prop on the shaft. Plastic tubing, "nyrod" outer tubing, and hard plastic or metal will work.

The tubing shouldn't be so long that it is being compressed when you tighten the bolt. I've used it dozens of times with no centring problems. Which "nyrod" outer tubing are you using? I tried Du-Bro, and both the Sullivan red and blue, but they are all too large.

The hole in the APC prop is as small as they can make it and still inject the fiberus material into the mold without breaking the fibers as they do it. That's what the man who makes then told me.

Fuel tubing works, but I trust my eyes to place the prop in a concentric position, if it vibrates much when fired up I would do a fast shutdown and readjustment, but so far I have been "spot on" with my 48 year old eyes. I suppose a finnicky guy could fill the hole with epoxy and then redrill it to the proper size.
BTW if you want to get the most out of your AME, try the COX 5-3, or 6-4 that has been cut down to 4.25", now we're talkin'!
