RE: .049 ugly stick
The Littlest Stick plans can be enlarged to 150% of the original size and it makes a great stick for an .049. You will need to take out the incidence in the wing and add elevator. If you use aileron you can use less dihedral and no rudder.
Here is a link to the site that has the plans that can be downloaded and printed on your printer. You can then make the plans larger on a copy machine set at 150%

RE: .049 ugly stick
JD...
you could also use RCM plans #543 which includes plans for two "Kwik-Stick's". One is for .35s and the other is for .049s. There were four of them in the series. The others are .15 and .60 sizes and are part of another plan set.
They are all of the box-on-two-rails design - just like Balsa USA's Sticks.
The 1/2A version uses an Ace foam wing (neither the plans nor instructions say whether to use the straight or tapered Ace wings but I doubt that it matters. Control is via rudder and elevator, both of which are of 3/32 balsa. Except for the two hardwood fuselage "rails" the rest is just 1/8 balsa and a little bit of 1/8 ply for the motor mount. The plans indicate the use of a Black Widow or Golden Bee I believe.
If I was in a hurry I expect that I could glue the wing halves together and cut out "all" the parts in one evening then assemble them the next. Since there is no need to paint or cover the Ace wing, all you would have to do is seal the fuselage and tail feathers using whatever method you like. If I was doing it, I'd just seal it all with Polyurethane, sand, and squirt Rustoleum. That would take a day or two. Finally installation of the two servos and pushrods, etc. might take another evening. Actually, since I would put a Norvel on it, a third servo would be required and you'd have to mount the tank. OK, I get five to seven light sessions.
Question; could a person from Lenoir, NC attend a Small Bird Flying near Smithfield, NC at the end of the month?

RE: .049 ugly stick
I just looked up the 1/2A Stick and it is plan #607B. They use a Ace foam wing on it so there is nothing for the wing. When I built mine I went a head and made a built up wing. The outline for the ribs are on the plan and I built it flat to 35" with ailerons. The plans are $6. If I remember correctly I bashed my stick a little and eventually put a Tee Dee with a 2 oz. tank in it .
If you are interested in 1/2A plans get the RCM plans catalog which is $5. They have a ton of 1/2A plans in it with pictures of the finished product. For the small planes, usually one sheet, the plans are around $5-$6. Right now, I have more plans than kits sitting around waiting to be built .

RE: .049 ugly stick
I just checked the RCM online plans catalog. The one I spoke about in the eariier post is plans 543B. don't forget the "B" for their search mechanism. I started one the day after I made my first post here. In two days it is ready to take to show-n-tell at tonight's club meeting. I plan to use it to provide some buddy-box time to anyone who comes as a visitor to our club's Small Bird Flyin on the 30th of November.
The other reference to a 1/2A stick above is the more traditional box fuselage style and looks more 'finished' than the Kwik-Sticks. I chose the Balsa USA-like version so that I could play around with diferent engines without cutting up a pretty plane. I will start with a Golden Bee, then maybe a PAW .03 r/c, then if I get brave, it might carry a Norvel .061 - but more than likely I'l lose interest and just keep it around for towing a streamer for mock combat.
I hope your Stick - whichever you choose - turns out ot be as much fun for you as they have been for me over the years.

Yup, I'll probably set up a download site. I haven't decided how it will work yet.
I just sold my last 1/2A Stik plan a couple of weeks ago.
jdwardus, can you work from a high resolution gif or jpeg?
