Default Cox power!

Hey guys!

Great forum, my passion is 1/2A Cox power. Here's a pic of my latest project....trying hard to get her done in time for the S.M.A.L.L. fly in. at the end of this month in Little Rock.

She's a scaled up & redesigned Keith Laumer "Twin Lizzie" for 2 throttled TD .049's.....408 sq. in., Selig S3087 airfoil, hoping for 34 oz., has switchable split throttle hookup.

Default Hey Milton, it's Mike here !

Hey Milton, how about giving us direction and details about this S.M.A.L.L. fly-in scheduled for June. Where is it going to be held? What are the rules ? Anything that our fellow 1/2A teammates might want to know.
I sold my little TD .020 powered Falcon to Brian so you might see it out at the field again.
Let's keep this forum going.
Mike

Thanks guys! I think I'll print copies of your kind words and hand them out to my wife & kids; they just think I'm nuts! Way too much time in my workshop lately.

Ahhhh, that Mike.....cool! I'll make a copy of the map to this year's S.M.A.L.L. & get it to you. It should be easy to find, they moved to "Burns Park" in North Little Rock. The only rules are that I.C. engines have to be .26 and smaller, U/C engines .35 and smaller (I think) and electrics have to be 180 watts and less. No competition, just fly & fly & fly & hang with your like minded buds.
A VERY special event! Of yeah, there's an indoor event on Fri. night, should be even better than last years! Boy, I wish I had enough time to get the slow flyer for Lite-Stik power I've been "think building" done.

Easytiger: Yup, Keith Laumer was the man! Did you know he was a very well known science fiction writer? When I get through with the 'Lizzie, I'm going to start reading his stuff, he was VERY prolific and I'll bet very clever.

Milton

ps: Mike: Weather permitting, Brian Pate & son Michael are supposed to test-hop their new "Spin Doctor" (autogyro) with TD .049 power Sunday morning. I'm going to try to be there for a short while to test my new Hitec 8 ch. rcvr. and "new" old gold box Futaba (got it from Charlie) in an old airplane before I install them in the Twin Lizzie.

Default ....she's a flyer now!

Well, she's finally finished and has been through the test flight phase safely. What a feeling! The last couple of weeks were a nightmare....many late night and 4 am sessions needed and I was an absolute basket-case on the way out to the field last wed. afternoon for the initial tests. After the 1st couple of flights, I was a new man! She flew GREAT! Plenty of power, surprisingly aerobatic and very smooth & clean in the air.

Most of the Memphis gang went over to the S.M.A.L.L. fly-in and had a great time. I flew the 'Lizz there and it seemed to be well liked by everyone.

Thanks Paul & MrMulligan! Towards the end of the project, my confidence was beginning to waver a bit but fortunately it came out weird cute instead of weird ugly and the flying part was even better.

Frank Fanelli at Flying Models was there at the S.M.A.L.L. event and asked if I would do a construction article on the 'Lizzie and I said yes. I hope I can keep my enthusiasm up long enough to polish up my crude CAD drawings and write an article that will pass muster!

Default Congrats

DickeyBird,

Gongratulations on a job well done!!! I kind of met you here at RCU through Jeremy. He told me about your beautiful little bird out at the MPB field the day he brought out the "spidey" Delta.

Love the pop bottle cowls! Any idea when the article will come out? When you find out, let us all know. Oh, how did everybody like Jeremy's Delta?

Nice to have a celebrity here in Collierville...hehehehehe!!!

John
