there was a snap ring on the .074, but theres not one on either of these 2 engines, I did get the .049 rc fired up for a minute it seemed to run fine, but it sure seemed thirsty too compared to the .074, I filled up the tank mount about 1/3 full and it ran for about a minute so I guess the reports I got back on that little query were correct.. ie about 3 minute run time per tank,, well that just means more practice on the deadstick landings
it looks like the intake cover holds the screen in place , maybe I'll leave them on for now..Rog

I flew a 50" span Herr Cub for a year with a .049. It ran over 20 minutes on a 2oz tank with the throttle full open (the only way that engine would fly it). I went thru two quart containers of fuel in that plane. That doesn't seem very thirsty to me. The plane lives on but now sports a .061 for better climb.
