best ,lightest glue for foam?

RE: best ,lightest glue for foam?
Polyurethane (Pro Bond) is light and strong plus it cuts and sands like foam. The down side is that it must be clamped overnight to prevent if from pushing the pieces apart. I stack the foam on a tile floor and then put a board on it and weigh it down with 50 to 80 pounds.
3M77 holds sheeting on well, but it doesn't seem to hold foam to foam very well due to lack of surface area.
I have been using Sig Bond, which is basically yellow carpenters glue, on my current project and it sticks balsa to foam and foam to foam quite well.

For wood it's different as the moisture in the white glue migrates into the surrounding wood and the glue dries that way. But the foam slabs just won't loose the water content at all in the center. It would dry but it would take days if not weeks if the slabs have much surface area at all.
I'd try the proper polyurethane glue first. This is a totally new type of glue that shares nadda with the regular water solvent carpenter's glues.

Sig Bond is a very thick carpenters glue. White glue is pretty thin and, as Bruce mentioned, it would take a looooong time to dry.
Polyurethane is my personal favourite for weight, strength and workability.

RE: best ,lightest glue for foam?
Rog,
Craft supply places like Michael's have special glues for foam that allow fast assembly. My understanding is that these are contact type adhesives. So, apply glue to one side, place the pieces together breifly, pull apart, wait 15 seconds, put the pieces back together and your done. Boom it's permanent. The other thing I've seen is that UFO is also good and popular for the Depron type of foam. Polyurethanes weigh about the same as epoxies and need pressure to work well. But the polys get great penetration in foam for maximum strength joints. Bottom line is for working with foam you may use a couple of types on the same project. Check the foamy forum for some interesting idea's.... Rgds, Jeff
