Default Norvel BigMig 061 to be "discontinued"?

I've just been told by a chap from "Engines Unlimited" (who seem to be the only importer of Norvel engines in the UK) that the BigMig 061 is to be "discontinued" - Is this true?

Regards,
=Adrian=

This was posted by Ed Stevens around mid-January -- at the time, the Big Mig .061 was not going away, just out of stock. Ed and Robin Stevens have always been most responsive to emailed questions. If you want to get it "from the horses mouth", why not just shoot them your question WRT "Engines Unlimited" comment.

Hi everyone. Sorry to miss this forum for a while, and thanks to Andy Batts for suggesting I post a reply here.

The B6R's are absolutely in production. We're not sure why there has been such a run on them lately, but we were just caught short on stock. We always felt the growth in small electric planes would ultimately generate more interest in 1/2A glow engines. Although the electrics have improved performance, internal combustion is still way ahead on power to weight ratio. It's hard to imagine an F-18 Electric flying missions over Baghdad.

We are expecting a fairly large shipment to come in mid to end of February. It is impossible to predict actual demand, but it looks like stock should be OK for the next couple months.

We're famous for our small engines, and despite our expansion into larger engine sizes, the 1/2A category will remain important to us for a long time to come. We do plan to simplify the product line throughout this year, reducing the number of models available. The .049's are far less popular since our .061's have identical weight and more power, for example. We haven't sorted out which ones will stay and which will go, but an .061 with throttle (B6R) will obviously be a part of the lineup. If there is a model you like, now might be a good time to pick up an extra one or two.

Questions please to [email protected]. Have a great day!

Best regards,
Ed Stevens
