Problem with Cox Queen Bee .074
I have a Queen Bee that i never really used. I bought it new, never got it to run right then put it away for 6 years. now i want to get it going. I cant seem to get it started. I have cleaned the entire engie, primed via exhaust and carb, new glow plugs, and i still obnly get a short burst here and there. I have done all kinds of settings with the needle with no luck. I think it has poor compression, cause when the muffler is off, i can see fuel bubbling out from the piston/ cylinder wall. is there anything i can do to fix this motor?
Thanx in advance,
Matt

Get something else, like a Norvel .074 and don't waste your time. Sell the Queen Bee to some collector who just wants to look at it.
That was probably the worst engine ever produced by C*x. Less power than the Medallion .049, and hard to run. Other than that and it weighs a ton, it was awkward to mount, and the carb needed modification to work right.
So enjoy!

I have had the exact experience with a QUEEN BEE> I wonder how many millions of dollars COX made on an engine that doesn't run? I bought the engine based on a RAVE REVIEW done by CHRIS CHIANELLI way back when. I think reviews are supposed to be done on randomly selected products that are not given special preparation prior to being turned over to the reviewer. Come to think of it if COX is one of the major[full page] advertisers in the same magazine that is doing the review, what are the chances that the product will get a thumbs down report? RC REPORT is the only magazine out there that gives thumbs down reviews from time to time, and they should be applauded for it. The QUEEN BEE should be renamed the OINK BEE!

Had one on a 1/2A SST and a spare. After running one in I sold 'em both quick. My Norvel .074s are outrageously more powerful, lots cheaper and much lighter.

You know, a guy like WILTSE could probably figure out a way to make it a KING BEE! Or JAPANMAN could make it a screaming FAN BEE[X(]. I've got a GILBERT .074 that I'll trade you for your QB. The GILBERT could pop a water ballon if you gave it enough time to chew it's way through. [I take back my offer because the GILBERT will at least start].

It's got a rear induction with a long COWL INDUSTION intake, and a VELOCITY STACK tip[8D]! I might make a tuned pipe for it. Do you think a GILBERT has ever been "on the pipe"? Is the guy who was in charge of the GILBERT R&D program the same guy who spearheaded the QUEEN BEE? If so, he is also the same guy I used to see at the drag strip in his MOM's station wagon with the push button shift on the dash board[8D]! Do you know if HURST used to sell little finger thimbles for speed shifting.? I know that I'm only doing a so-so job of trying to be funny, but whenever I get a chance to poke fun at businesses or people who have gypped me, I take my shots. Maybe this post of RAGMANs' will bear some fruit, and some guy will come charging in with an incredible fix that only takes 5 minutes and turns them[QBs] into screaming meemies. ? It could happen! You could also sit a million monkeys down in front of typewriters and one of them could spit out a best selling novel!

RE: Problem with Cox Queen Bee .074
I had one of those q.b.'s several years back. mine ran o.k., not a powerhouse. I yanked it and stuck a td 09 in the airframe. the only redeeming quality of the queen bee is the head fit the td 09, and I ran cheap fox short glowplugs in it. wound up sellong the queen bee to a kid a few years later for 5 bucks or so for an airboat; a good place for a boat motor...anchor...etc...

Hey, this is all timely,
I was thinking how I`d like to get my hands on a queen bee to mount one of my v shaped reed setups in to use as a foamy plane engine.
Anyone want to sell me one?

I had lots of problems with mine till I started running it on a 50/50 mix of
Everclear and Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive oil.
And if I used an old Y&O prop, I could hover my DuraBat with it!

You`d think that being in Japan I`d have silk and tissue around me up to my armpits!! but the opposite is true unfortunately, the only silk I can seem to get here is very high quality for Kimonos... and it is expen$$$$$ive!
