Default Multiplex Microjet - with.15

Next week I take delivery of a micro jet. The electric motor
gets binned and on goes an OS 15.

24''span. Should go well.

Pictures will follow as and when she's ready.

I don't want to desuade you from this project, but I have converted several electric pusher jets to glow. I briefly owned a micro-jet and I am not sure you will enjoy this conversion with such a large engine. One of the last wings I did was the Graupner mini-star jet, it's got a larger wing area and is longer than the micro jet. If you run a search on star jet in this forum, there a several pics, also check out the firebat. Since your nose is shorter, your really going to have to pile in the lead to balance the micro jet with a .15 in the back. My .15 powered Starjet was tricky to launch, but would really rip once on step. It was a little slow with a Norvel AME.061, but only because finding a decent pusher prop for anything under a .09 engine is difficult these days. Grish is the only current manufacturer I know of that makes 1/2A pusher props besides Cox, but I have been waiting for 2 years for orders to arrive from them. The Cox blades are there, the 3 blade pusher prop seems to do alright.

I guess what I am trying to say is that because the micro jet is so small, a .061 or .074 will be much easier to balance and have a much lighter flying weight. By the time you balance the .15, the wing loading will be so high the flight performance will really be degraded, it will probably be very difficult to lauch and won't have much durability. A norvel version will probably out perform the .15 in this case. The microjet has been been troublesome in regards to launch, you may want to read up on it in the electric foamies forum. The flying weight of the .15 version will be even harder.
