Cleaning Crappy Castor Crud Consistently
Anybody have a magic potion, homemade or a commercial product to clean the castor oil off your MonoKoted models?
I have been using a 1 gal. mix of 16 oz. alcohol/8 oz. ammonia/dishwash liquid/water but find that the ammonia dulls & streaks the MonoKote
What'chall usin'?

Airplane cleaner !
I use a 50-50 mixture of Simple Green and Windex. Don't dilute the Simple Green, but use it straight from the bottle. As you know, Simple Green is probably one of the best degreasers around. Try it. You'll find it does a pretty good job of cleaning up that old castor oil residue.
p.s. Are you going to be at the field this weekend ? Weather permitting ? And has Roger found that .15 u/c engine yet ?

Thanks Mike, I'll give that a shot.
Yup, I hope to go out Sun. AM to do more engine refinement on the 'Lizzie.
I gave Roger an OS .15 (pre FP series) and he called me last night to say that he test flew the U/C plane with the .15 on it and it did very well.
Later,
Milton

I use the Eagle 20/20 Glass Cleaner and it works great. It gets all of the crud off, and it wont dull the monokote. I don't know fi you've seen any of Joel's big TOC planes, but his Monokote is shiny and he uses the Eagle 20/20

electric flyer here
I just use a new plane each flight.
Wow! that sounds really expensive... I try and get at least 2 flights out of mine ...hahahahaha
Maybe if you mix some windshield washer in your glow fuel you could make a mess, clean it up, and crop dust all at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!.....lol... Rog
former OS 40 flyer .. I tried to get 2 flights out of it too!!!
