Default Landing gear ideas for a 1/4 pylon racer

I have a 1/4 pylon midget mustang.
I have no landing gear on it because I thought I could hand launch it and belly land it. The hand launch part goes off OK but the landing is a disaster. It ends up nosing in and flipping over. It has the radiator scoop on the belly that interferes with a smooth belly landing. Removing the scoop would be too much work.
Does anyone have any ideas for a skid or a landing gear that would work?
What did they use for a landing gear when they raced these in events?

Thanks,
Pat
