i built a wattage giles with an s.c.12 up front and it was way too much in terms of power and weight,i had to add 1 1/2 ounces to the tail,i reckon an .09 would be about perfect.

The CVA is an awesome engine, it does everything well. Just do a mock up with all your gear installed and position the engine on the fuselage with rubber bands, string, etc. until you arrive at the balance point. The rest is nothing that a razor saw and a hunk of 1/8" ply can't handle.

I have a 10 and I would go with more power.

yeah,sure,why not put a 25 in it?you'll learn!it's a rocket with a 12 in it,one blink and you'll lose sight of it.

i wasn't on about weight as a limiting factor,it is a small, light plane and with a 12 it was very quick and had flutter problems, anything more is too much for the airframe.

Engine size doesn't have a whole lot to do with speed. Pitch and RPM determine speed, so go with a large fine pitched prop and it should be fine, assuming it isn't too heavy.
