I ran across this on another forum and thought you guys would enjoy it. In light of some recent postings here, it's somewhat apropos:

Question: How many forum members does it take to change a Light Bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been
changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how
the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electrical section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing
light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...
another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term
is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and
that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please
take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use
light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior,
where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best
for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the
corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant
to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety
including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they
cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting
questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now
and start it all over again.

That's a CLASSIC D.B!

I saw it posted on "best of Craigs List" awhile back. When things on a discussion page get to the point where you need waders, it's the perfect post!

BTW, where'd you find it?

"URL's" should be URLs. It's plural, not possessive.

"URL's"is a contraction of "URL is", because the apostrophy is between the word and the S. To indicate the possessive the apostrophy goes after the S. I don't mean to pick on you, BF, I think you do quite well inspite of your RURAL EDUCATION!

Piggy:

If we're going to be ragging each other, you merely repeated what BF said. And "Apostrophe" ends with an "E" not "Y."

I will not stand for this nitpickery! Especially since you are wrong.

An apostrophe is used to show omisssion, such as a contraction, or possesion.

Examples of omission are:
It's silly to agrue about grammar.
I don't think that you are correct.

Posession is shown with an apostrophe and an s except in the case of a word where it sounds awkward, in which case it is acceptable to use just an apostrophe.

Examples of possession are:
Combatpigg's statement is false.
Dennis' name ends with the letter s.

In the case of possesive and plural ending in an s, the apostrophe is after the s.

For example:
The forum members' postings are very informative.

Possesive pronouns and plurals do not use apostrophes.

Examples of possesive pronouns are:
its
yours
theirs
ours
hers

This thread is turning into a self-fullfilling prohecy.

Edit:
That was weird. All the text posted twice.

Sure! Sorry to be so slow to respond, new work duties keep me off the forum 'til I get home every night.[]

Those are the 2 best machining forums IMO. Warning: It's yet ANOTHER addictive hobby.

ps: Man, I hope those URLs work!

That stuff is WWII humor, you guys don't go THAT far back, do you? My DAD was a huge POGO fan.
Arguing with a CANADIAN about proper usage is like........you know, THEY'RE the ones with the accents, not us.

Aj just built a light bulb that runs on dreams and good intentions, Dicky Bird put a throttle on it, and Bipe Flyer built a norvel version that can fly off water, then Combatpigg put a streamer on it and was caught knocking out other bulbs with it!! All of them are collaborating on an article instructing you on how to build your own 1/2 bulb that will hover,,,, coming soon in various R/C magazines
It never ends around here folks!!
