anybody know of a kit of a twin suitable for pee wee .020's?,i've got 2 looking for a home, this sort of thing is sneered upon by most uk modellers so i guess it'll have to come from the u.s.

The JR. Skylark was designed for 1 .049 or 2 .020s. BobHH sells a modernized laser cut version of the Jr. Skylark. You'd have to ask him if it has the instructions for the twin .020 option. BobHH's website is http://www.earlyrcmodels.com/ .

Hi Bigchap,
Not a kit but construction article & plans by Aubry Kochman from early 60's American Modeller. Shoulder wing, I believe.
I'll dig out the article if you are interested.

i'm not sure why some people sneer at small engines over here,i love them!,i have been using this to my advantage though as i find people are using me as a dumping ground for their old cox motors which strikes me as being odd as they obviously owned them in the past so why be so uptight about them now?,anyhow, keep giving them and i'll keep taking them boys!

RE: twin for pee-wees?
I have an issue of RCM around here somewhere that had a construction article by the U.K.'s own Mr. Boddington on a twin TeeDee .010 powered high wing (wire cabane struts) flying boat. It was a real cutie-pie. Pee Wees would be fine as well I'm sure. If I could ever get 2 Pee Wees to run on the same day I'd try one.

Perhaps the folks sporting large engines are trying to compensate for something?[sm=lol.gif]
I always thought a good subject for using two reed valve engines would be a cessna skymaster or 337 (whatever the usaf fac plane was called 02?)..
I think there was a older 336 too. As to kits, I don't know, but the good thing about a model of the 336 or 337 is that if one engine quits, no worries, they are in-line!

RE: twin for pee-wees?
We do not supply the parts for the twin engine version because of trying to keep cost down. I do have the required parts drawn up and can send you these templates to make a Jr Skylark with twin .020s either Pee Wee or Tee Dee. I had thought of doing the latter for myself for a bit of fun but too many projects in front of it!!
Thanks,

RE: twin for pee-wees?
Here is the scoop on Aubrey Kochman's shoulder wing design called,"Tiny Twin".
Const. article in Americn Modeller July/Aug 1964
WS 36" fully sheeted wing
A 216 in. sq.
Wt 16 oz using contest balsa.
Power 2 Cox TD 020 mounted on removable nacelles.
Control system - rudder only with Septalette actuator (magnetic actuator)
Hope this helps,
Bob G

RE: twin for pee-wees?
With a 90sec run time one will shut off before the other one is started.[>:] I bought two peewee's with the same thought, however my wife went on a rampage and I had to get rid of engines that weren't slated for an airplane this year. So one got auctioned off.[>:] My idea was to cut a hole into the case and run them back to a single tank. I don't KNOW that will work, but it's an idea. I had played around with an airplane you might like... A Mosquito! It was going to have a basic box fuse with triangle stock to give carving room and a bubble canopy for a stand-off and squint real hard scale. Shouldn't be too hard to scratch.

RE: twin for pee-wees?
Didn't one of the Brit mags just have a center fold plan for a DH Dragonfly? That looked like it would make a great twin 020 model.
There's a neat looking DC3 plan at http://plans.rcmodell.hu/planscal.html down near the bottom. It's a DXF CAD plan so it would be easy to scale it to about 36 to 40 inches.
Other than that there's not that many twins around. The Jr Skylark IS a cutie though.

Compensate for something....LOL LOL LOL
I'm on my way to the airport now to get some tickets to Britain...now do poeple start giving you the Cox engines as soon as you enter U.K. air space? I certainly hope so.
