Default Free Covering offer from SIG

He guys I just came across the SIG ad for their Aerokote covering in Flying Models. It has a little mail in offer for a meter of white covering for $1.00. It's worth it to me so I guess I'll send it off and give it a try.

Later,
Tim

Lately I have been collecting and selling Comet models kits for rubber power with thought of*micro electricR/C conversion- any thoughts as to whether this new Sig covering your spreading the word about would be a substitute for Japanese tissue. and also can it be applied with Nitrate dope??

There are actually 2 versions of the AeroKote available... regular and light. I do not remember the specs on each but I saw the stuff at the iHOBBY show in Chicago.... it is sweet!

It is a low temp, polyester covering, not tissue. Shrinks great, covers compound curves nicely...

Most definetely worth the buck to get a meter of it to play with and test..... Besides it comes in a 31.5" wide roll instead of a 24" roll, and is about the same price....$12.99/roll

I mailed my request on 10/27. I think it is a bit early to worry about it. I would have rather had the lite version, too bad they didn't offer that.

Well, I got my dollar back with a note that said:

"Due to the overwhelming response to our ad for our new Aero Kote
covering the samples are now depleated.

However to help serve our customers to the best of our ability,
we are returning your one dollar and including a one dollar off coupon
that can be used at your local hobby shop to purchase your first
roll of Aero Kote, or you may call our customer service line at
800-247-5008 and one of our represenatives will be glad to process
your request.

Sincerely
Jacque Johnston
Pres., SIG Mfg. Co. Inc."

So there ya go! I would have preferd they kept the dollar and sent a
50% off coupon for a roll, but I suppose a lot of folks would feel cheated
by that.
Must have cost them a (small) fortune in time and postage to return all those
"surplus" requests.

Funny, that's exactly what Goldberg did when they introduced Ultracote--offered a free square yard of white and then gave the dollar back with a coupon instead. I was annoyed and never used the coupon. Jim

Well on the other hand I got my half roll for a buck. It came in the mail today. Can't wait to see if the other 5 fake names & addresses I sent in produce the same result. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it "looks" a lot like moneykote cept it's 31" wide. I'll report back after I use it on my new 1/2 Pylon Racer.
