If it was difficult to control, check that your CG isn't too far aft. The lack of dihedral will not adversely affect ailerion turns, but it will make rudder turns less effective. As for being crazy fast... SLOW DOWN! LOL

Looks good.
What size battery are you using? Did you build a hatch or do you have to remove the wing? Do you know the AUW?
I can't believe I have read all 32 pages.

I got it done. Very easy and fun to build to take to the park. However I flew it twice and it was crazy fast and hard to control. I think the control surfaces are to small on the aileron and also I have no dihedral so that may be messing it up. Anyway i will figure it out soon.
Let me know what you think.

Contact "Bipe flyer" about three messages back. He drew the plans. He also has a great "tileprint" program if you want to rescale the plans. I scaled mine 125% and I am going electric. I also hope to build a foam core wing. It is my first so it will be challenging.

You might add the plans link to the first post in this thread. One of the things I like about the scratchbuilt foamys forum in RCG is that links to plans and mods are added to the top, especially for long threads, so that they can be easily found in one location.

The 1/2A All the Way MSN site is gone, so here are new links to the plans.

RE: 1/2A trainer anyone?
Hey Bipe, that GIF file that's got the whole plan on it.... can I take that to Kinko's or somewhere and get them to print it full size? Or is it best to just tape the tiled pages together and cut the parts out like that? That's how I do my foamies, but I've never built a balsa plane from scratch like this though. Thanks for a great plane!

Personally, I just print out and tape together the sections I'm working on at the time, rather than tape the entire thing together as one big plan. If you prefer to have the whole thing printed at Kinkos, make a couple of copies. One for cutting up and the other for building on.

RE: 1/2A trainer anyone?
Yeah, that was what I was thinking, why would I get an entire plan printed if I was going to cut it out to trace the parts. I'll just go with the tile print like usual. Thanks.

RE: 1/2A trainer anyone?
well guys, if you look back through the post you will see i was building this about 4/5 years ago at the same time as D Bronk [:-] well im back home after spending 3 years at uni and mum had left it sitting on top of my cupboard ... while at uni i had slammed my rivets head long into the ground from about 30 feet strait up when the vert stab cracked (T tail for those that dont know the rivets) so i pulled my electrics out of that and put them in the LST and finally maiden-ed it today 4 and a half years after first balsa was cut (probably one of the last fine days before winter and i have to go work at the ski fields here in OZ) and i must say...... HAPPY DAYS WILL BE HAD, flys awesome, im running esc, ailerons and elevator so its extremely light (the body is amazingly empty for 1/2a size) handles fine, even a bit twitchy rolling when on low rates (70%) so will pull that back abit and move the CoG back abit to calm the pitch. BUT all things considered, it was perfect
soooo thanks to all those involved in the initial project, i think im going to try and teach my dad with this after winter when i get a buddy sytem

RE: 1/2A trainer anyone?
u definitely should i built 90% of it in a couple of hours, it just took 4 years to get round to finishing it, extremely easy to build with slab fuselage and flat bottom wing

RE: 1/2A trainer anyone?
well i took her out for another test flight today when it wasnt as windy
Must say that i am even more impressed, just an absolute joy to fly; incredibly stable, could cut lazy circuits on trim. She can scoot along if u give it some throttle but 1/4 is all that was needed for straight and level flying at most. would loop fine and barrel roll if you managed the throttle/attitude properly. i couldnt get a aileron roll out of her for the life of me though, probably because of the large dihedral and large wing area for such a light model.... BUT, that is what she was designed as, a 1/2A trainer and boy does it do it well, like i said, incredibly stable, would take effort to turn into a lawn dart.
i have only one problem though, landing in a wet cow $h!^ sucks , makes my lovely plane smelly haha.
whats next for the LST,maybe some powerful LED's and some dusk/night flying.... should be interesting[X(]
