Default Auqastar Maiden Flight

The Auqaua Star is my venture back into 1/2 A. I picked up a used one and flew it this AM, took the wing floats off and hand launched it. With a .061 Norvel, and 6X3 prop the thing hopped right out of my hand and the climb is awesome. A great flying little plane, it does'nt handle wind that well, but will fly in it. With the power to weight, I can't believe it won't hop off the water? Has anyone got one to ROG on a calm pond? 40 min. of flying and I used about 1/2 cup of fuel!

I wonder if the aquastar would be a good plane for landing on snow?

Freebird,
There's been some posts on RCU about this one. I was never able to ROW with mine, but some people have. They essentially made their "chines" wider and flatter than mine. Other people build the hull more flat than vee-shaped.

I never bothered, I just handlaunched mine and enjoyed it. It's in the basement now, hasn't flown for a year or two... should check it out again!

Good luck,
Dave Olson

I'm landing it on grass, but snow should be a snap. You don't want to hit anything too hard, the bottom is just balsa.
