New plane. It's a blast.
Hi Guy's. I thought I would show you my latest toy . It's a real treat to fly.
It's a 34 inch wing, 306 sq.in, 32 inches
long , weighs 17 oz. . Power is a Norvel 74 which I am very
happy with. I've scratch built somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 planes
up to 90 size and would have never thought something so small could
be so fun. Oh yeah this is the neighbor kid holding the plane.

Hey There, thanks for the compliment. I have a few planes that I've wanted to share with you
guy's, but with some of the remarks I've read in the past, I was'nt sure how the comments
would go.

Hey RC_R,
Nice, can you tell us about the construction.
The fuse looks like it is about 1/4" thick. Built-up wing?
Radio gear?
Is that a 7" prop?

Redneck,
Just make sure the "kid" gets something to play with before he is totally
distracted by girls and cars. We'll lose him for a decade anyway, but he just might
come back in his 30's!
Dave
PS The plane looks very nice! Size and "fun" are somewhat inversely proportional.
Something about lower cost = less fear and anxiety = big grins doing stuff you
would not try with a 1/4 scale, $500 plane.

RE: New plane. It's a blast.
Hello again. In regards to the construction of this airplane it is very simple. The fuse is 1/4 inch. I framed up the center with 1/8 x 1/4 balsa stick with some 1/8 lite ply up front for the engine and landing gear. Then I sheeted the sides 1/16 and cut out around some of the frame work to lighten it up. The wing is built up with 1/16 ribs hollowed out. The spars are 1/8 x 1/4. The LE and TE is 1/4 inch. I used 1/8 stick instead of sheeting between the spar and the LE. The tail surfaces are 1/8 sheeting with lightening holes. The prop is APC 7 x 3 and the GWS wheels, as goofy as they look, work well on grass and rougher surfaces. I like these planes because they are simple and they fly very well.

I had one almost identical to that one, same specs too. It was a blast, it was by far the most maneuvrable thing on the field. Snapped so fast that people thought it was going to come apart. Would also accelerate vertically. These smaller planes are much more fun than the 90 sizes, they are also easier to throw in the car for a quick afternoon flight aftre work.
