Default Fuel Proof Paint

HI,

I am just wondering what paint is being used to fuel proof the engine mount and tank area of the Half A airplanes running 35% nitro. Expoxy is too heavy and thin CA is colorless ugly.

Top flight Ultrakote is only good to 15%. The same is true for Pactra formula U and Chevron Perfect paint.

Any ideas anyone.

thanks

Remeber, glow fast and crash lightly.

claim up to 50percent nitro proof if you add some of their 'cross linker'..

I gotta try that!

K&B EPOXY paint is very fuel proof and very expensive. Some fiberglass specialty stores sell pigment that can be added to laminating resin. Fuel proofing a firewall with epoxy won't add any measurable weight. CA is not glow fuel proof.

I use epoxy without a thinner, but spread it sparingly then hit it with a heat gun. It runs like water, fills the corners and soaks in. Seems to add little more than paint and is much more durable.
