SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!
I just got this little jewel off the brown airplane truck yesterday. This engine started life as a 20 year old QRC and Tim Wiltse converted it to a Black Widow for me. Aside from the anodizing and cylinder polishing, it is a stock Black Widow so it should be legal for the 1/2 a reedy race! Watch out!

PHHTTTT. I don't see any chrome on the backplate.....
Tim's an artist. I may have to get one of my Cox's sent down his way one of these days.

Oh, and I just couldn't afford the HEMI upgrade!

He does good work dont he?...I have one but its in stage 1 racing form with balanced crank and racing spinner, so I guess its not legal for the pylon race.or is it?..its still a reedie black widow....He's working on 2 more engines for me too..
it says Stage 1
racing spinner
balanced crank
exhaust collector
custom anodized,,does that qualify?

RE: SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!
Rog,
Replace the crank with a different one and I don't remember going anything else from stock performance wise. I keep track of all that on my old computer but all of that information was lost when my old computer died last month I still have the one completed S&S here. I was going to send it with the second one so that's way I haven't sent it off yet. I got down and dirty Saturday night to finish it and Brian's engine. So at 1 a.m. Saturday night/Sunday morning after the parts were done anodizing I go to get the stars to mask. Do you think I could find them to save my life..NOPE. I have the red case and just have to do another tank to finish the second engine.
Later,
Tim

Man, that engine already looks like its going 100 MPH!! Yep, Tim does a beautiful job. I have a few on my display models. There are so great looking some I have swapped with regular engines during flying because I don't want to get them dirty!!! Also, every engine I have gotten back from Tim has run better than it did before. Must be the balancing and blue printing. Maybe the small turbo hidden in the tank..........

RE: SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!
your right brian...that is one SWEEET engine...tim is the man when it comes to one of a kind engines...i don't think he could make two engines with the same design...they might look close but there still different...if it runs as good as it looks...we'll have our hands full at the pylon races

I've seen similar colour schemes after someone puts a finger in the prop.
Seriously though, like all of Tim's work, it Looks great!. I like mine so much that I'm saving it for display.

Hey Bipe, no comment on us running our own Reedie Race at Mission? Heck, I'd even BUILD something for that! Not sure how we could set up a course with that creek in the way though. I can see it now, a couple of us over rotate in the roll and pull back anyway and SPLOOP!.... Another odd looking water plant amont the bullrushes....

RE: SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!
It would be a 1/2A Schnieder cup.[sm=drowning.gif]
Paul and I talked about doing some 1/2A pylon racing, we even wrote a set of rules, but we never did anything. How about a Norvel race?

I think at some point we should have an .049 "run what you got" race ,,we are too small (pun) for anyone to really try and stack the deck ,,we will never get big enough for anything more than fun ..unless 1/2a really takes off (pun again) in this area...and since I just bought a VA from LD..can wait to get it....and try it out,,..Rog

RE: SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!
I think it will go on an LS 150 but I'm not sure yet. I'm sure there are lots of other cool designs out there yet to be explored but the LS 150 seems to be such a great "all around" plane. We'll see. Heck maybe I'll even design my own.
