Kamdax Mig Update!!!
After burning a quart of 1/2a 40% through our two migs, I was looking
for more 1/2A fuel. My NSLHS had a gallon of 65%. Woot!!! My Mig now
flys like those in the in the vids on their website! With the increased speed
the roll rate if phenominal! The loops are still a cursive L (lower case), but
it doesn't fall out of the sky at the top, like before. We both dialed our
throws way over what was spec'd, & now they fly like they ought to!
I think I will add some more negative elevator for better inverted flight!
Now we're talkin Jets!
Later!

HI JC! What brand fuel is it? Are you burning up glow plugs every run? I would like to know more, are you running the NORVEL .08?
I remember a wise old man once say,"You don't have to burn 65% to have fun" . Well, I think you've proved him wrong.

pigg,
It was just one flight on each Mig with the new fuel. No problems so far
with the plugs. It is Wildcat fuel (i think, will verify). We both are running
the stock Norvel .061...
Now it's too much fun!
Do you think I should order more plugs now?

MAN! If you're having fun don't change a thing! What kind of MPO [minutes per ounce] are you getting out of the 65%? I'm real glad to hear about your success, it's almost enough to get me to try it, maybe with a FAN TRAINER type model. I might need a memory refresher, is this engine specially prepped by KAMDAX to run a fan?

RE: Kamdax Mig Update!!!
Order extra plugs, you will start burning them. And don't run out of fuel. Often, you will toast the plug when it goes lean at the end of the fuel run, so shut down the engine with the throttle instead. And make sure your head shims are all in there, that will help.
It will wear out the engine faster, that's the only downside, but who cares? You will still get an awful lot of flights.

RE: Kamdax Mig Update!!!
Dear friends,
I have a problem with the glow fuel for my Kamdax mig because in Italy it's very difficult to find the glow fuel with 30-40% of nitro;
please may you tell me the exact composition of the fuel to make it homeself?
Thank you
Sergio,Italy

Serg,
I'm sure someone else can give you the general formula, for
fuel, but I'm not that familiar with it. I just buy it off the shelf.
pigg,
It appears to be a standard .061 sans muffler. I didn't
time the flight, but it didn't seem to far off from our
40% flights...
Good Luck!

RE: Kamdax Mig Update!!!
Speaking of which I finally got to test fly mine last saturday and I was totally impressed. The thing that impressed me the most was that it took off on my GRASS [X(]runway, I have had larger ducted fan jets that would not do that!!!!! I used the stock set-up with the landing gear, and flew it with 30% heli. Only problem was that I used one of the cheapo GWS recievers and unfortunately I was getting a lot of radio hits, which I originally mistaked for the plane stalling, to make a long story short I "landed" in the dirt field surrounding my flying field (the radio hit, made my engine go to idle and pushed the elevator down). Unfortunately the lumpy dirt field tore off 2 of my 3 landing gear, so I ripped the other one off myself, fired here back up and had a buddy hand launch. The performance was even better! However I finally realized that I was getting hits, and it was not just the plane stalling, so I came in for a landing, when I throttled down the engine died and the plane just kept on gliding, it flew about 100 ft more than I thought it would, which helped lead me to the conclusion about the radio hits on the first flight. Although my time was limited it put a huge grin on my face, its a really fun plane. Now I'm just trying to decide if I want to buy more landing gear or just keep it the way it is.

OK STEVE, will do, expect to see something from cematheny.net.
mugenkid, no brainer, leave the gear off!
JC, you're running right at the upper limit for nitro % You figure 20- 25% of the mix should be oil which leaves only 10 -15% for methanol which is the ingredient that gives the catalytic reaction with the glow plug. Caster oil doesn't mix above 50% nitro, it clumps. As far as I know, the best oil for high nitro fuel is KLOTZ, they have a website. I would save all those head shims that used to come with the glow plugs, because that is how you cure the blown glow plug blues when running high test fuel.
