RE: Smaller battery pack
You might look into getting the small FMA voltage regulator (.2oz) and then you can use 2s lipolys. A 340mah might be about the same weight as a 120mah Nimh, or go with smaller.

RE: Smaller battery pack
You need a special charger for the Li-po's though. Gets expensive overall.
www.cheapbatterypacks.com makes up packs for cheap with shrink case and proper connector for cheap. And they are an RCU sponsor. Mention you saw them here.

RE: Smaller battery pack
In the past I have found 9v Ni-cad replacement batteries at Radio Shack etc. If you cut the case open carefully you will find 6ea. 150Mah cells inside. Buy 2 batteries and 3 connectors and you can solder up 3 small 150Mah packs for about $20 total.

well I just went to the cheappacks website, it looks like they will build you a 160Mah Nimh pack with a HiTec connector for 7 bucks + shipping. I can't see taking the time to go to Radio shack, buy batteries, go find connectors, cut, clean, solder, shrinkwrap, test 3 packs , fix 1 or more, when I can spend 10 minutes on the web and wait for the completed item to arrive in the mail.
I withdraw my previous recommendation, unless you still like to reply " oh -I made it from some stuff I found" when someone asks you where you got your new widget.
